Hey now! That's enough of that crazy talk!:) But no, that's not me. If my character reflected myself, he would be in jeans and a tee shirt, have a barstool with his name engraved on it, hanging out at the Friendly Arm Inn!

But, imagine that one, a guy walking down the street in drag with a pair of Katanas strapped to his back, singing a tune along the way. That picture would be priceless....

I like to call my melee characters with names like:

    Gruff Fraybrawler (Human)
    Sir Donaldus (Halfling paladin)
    Alobar Steelfist (Dwarf)

For other characters I like names like

Thaxxl'ssillya (a long time favourite ever since BG2; not class related)
Pharmacia Economical (healer character from IWD, IWD2 and BG2)

    etc.

I had a character like that when I played Fable. He was called Nayd and I almost died of laughter when a certain lady in the game complimented him on his manhood... Of course he was evil and had horns which were barely concealed by a wig. Good times. :D

Usually something out of a book I have read recently, or a name I come up with on the spur of the moment. Examples:

    A Fighter/Thief called Montresor :)
A Kensai/Mage called Tom Marvolo Riddle  (Lord Voldemort's real name in the Harry Potter books)
A Paladin named Tirian (the last king of Narnia)

I seem to recall that we had a member who always called his characters "I Say", so his companions sounded like Foghorn Leghorn when they addressed him: "I Say, shouldn't we be doing something about..."

I've always been fascinated with birds of preys since I was a kid. Birds like falcons, hawks, eagles, kites, kestrels and etc are some of my favorites. So my evil male half-orc 20STR barbarian is called "Tweety". :D

I don`t remember the names i give chars in video games. but I remember a bunch of my d&d\star wars characters.

Hulgar Firedoom - level 8 wizard. Died from a chain-lightning trap on a chest. Due to the fact that the fellow playing our rogue, had fallen asleep on the couch....

Melkhur the great - Human fighter. bashed by fire-giants

willfred - half elf bard. eaten by dire badgers

ulysses - gnome sorcerer. killed by an ogre

garret - human druid. killed by the same ogre

Slobo - vampire rogue - killed by a white dragon

Jellik - tusken raider turned jedi. force-pushed off a landing platform on bespin.

Drax Mindo - accidentally fumbled while setting some demolition stuff in an imperial base.

Durbin Hammerfist - dwarf fighter, fell off a bridge (was icy, and fighters dont have balance skill. So performing a bull-rush was a bad idea)

Arkan DeVonic - drow assassin - burned to death\crushed by a balor.

Crispin Moonglow - elf ranger. fell into a pit trap, that got filled with acid.

Hector Honeycroft - human wizard. Still alive, and my current character.

    Yeah...i die OFTEN.

Nice names Rawgrim, that sure is a long list! ;)

@nior: I had a character named Kestrel once, I like the way it sounds, great name for a Rogue.

I remember a great old D&D module, XL-1 - Quest for the Heartstone. It came with many pre-made characters. It was the 1st time I played D&D. The names of the pre-mades set the tone for me as a RPGer when it came to creating names for my characters.

Good - Strongheart, Elkhorn, Mercion, Ringlerun, Peralay, Figgen, Molliver, Hawkler, Deeth, Bowmarc and Valkeer.

Evil - Grimsword, Zargash, Kelek, Skylla, Zorgar, Drex, Zarak and, of course, Warduke!

Although I tend to make up new names to fit character portraits/models of particular games, I've noticed I use names that begin with K a lot. In NWN2, for example I have Keryn, Krom, and Kirian.

And who could forget the Redfoots - they're a clan of halflings me and Rotku created for a NWN2 server and we've both had numerous members from them. I've adopted some of them into CRPG games.

Whenever I get stuck for a name I always go for Kernu Kara (I'm a K fan ;) ) although recently I've leant towards Furion (Both pinched from the pages of Warhammer Monthly, oddly enough).

I did used Kestrel and Raven for rogues, Falcon or Hawk for archers, Crow for fighters, and etc. but sometimes it gets boring to be too serious. At least "Tweety" and his equally evil male sidekick rogue, "Melody" adds a little spice to the game. :D

I've used the name Kyeron (+moniker) couple of times. The first was a Dreadmaster called Kyeron Blackfist in IWD2.

Derrick DeCoy, a gnome illusionist, keeps making regular comebacks :) .

My latest BG2 character, an evil dual-classed Fighter/Thief, is called "Adahn". Guess I've played a bit too much PS:T. :shake:

In IWD 2 I always call my tank WEDGE, from physics class where wedge is the simplest
tool known to man. One of the guys on our football team was also called Wedge, not
    funny but approiate

    names

I have a hard time coming up with new names, so i have used these names ever since i started playing crpg.

    Sanie - because shes insane....
Muffildy Fluffymuff - druid - gm eventually made me get rid of the last name for its explicit nature.
Bamladile - monk - bam bam!
Stabladile - rogue - it wont hurt a bit...

Sometimes ill used silly names like Dark Lord or Helpless Gnome

Reminded me that I used Lickspittle for a Half Orc which was rather funny (I got the name from a book I didn't read).

I used Rupert Pupkin for Arcanum and was surprised to see it as an alias in Entourage, I like that hint to The King of Comedy.
