This is exactly why I think archery is useless, or at least VERY unreliable late in the game. DON'T dedicate any character to archery, the hits rarely get over the damage reduction, especially in HoF mode. I don't take a single archery feat in my party. Not that I don't use archery at all, I do sometimes in easier battles, to save my spells.
My barbarian uses the collar together with the Rage of Chaos Bastard Sword to be immune to every enchantment in the game. Protects him from his own poor will saving throw.
I had to buy the blinking sword.
The HoF dragon was actually easier than the normal one, because of my equipment and spells. I sent in one character (battlecleric, fighter4/lathanderX) with this Blinking Sword in the off hand, wearing a cloak that gives blur (total 60 or 70% miss chance ), Mass Haste and Executioners Eyes! A couple of Shades backed her up (dragon ignores summons I think) and she cast heal on herself only once during the battle.
My spellcasters didn't do much else but stand by and watch, a rarity for Heart of Fury. That dragon didn't know what hit it! I remember needing to reload the normal version a few times before I got it right. I remember once, a character was still struck by fear when the guardian died, and as a result she didn't get the boost to hit points and acid resistance :mad:reload...
