I was in 8th grade and playing soccer (football, for you lucky non-Americans) and I felt a sort of 'snap' in my chest and my heart started going extremely fast. The school nurse nearly freaked, and called my mom, then the ambulance. I went to the ER and they had to stop my heart for fraction of a second to get it to stop racing. I heard the heart moniter go flat-tone. Didn't like that much.

I think my heart rate was 265 beats per minute, just to give you an idea of 'extremely fast.'

About 7 years ago, our family and a friends family went for our summer holidays down south along the coast to a place called Ballina. We were doing all those fun touristy things in the towns around the area, and we found our way to Byron Bay one Sunday for the markets. It was scorching hot, so we decided to go down for a swim at the beach.

It happened that the day in question was the one day of the week that the beach was unpatrolled by lifeguards, so we were swimming, unknowingly, in a rip. Next to large, sharp, oyster infested rocks. Well, needless to say, I got swept out by the said rip, and was washed up on the sharp rocks on my way out to sea. If it were not for one of the children of our friends family, who had lifeguard training, I would have died. As a result, he swam out and dragged me to the rocks. The result was, both of us ended up with shredded legs and tears. Much fun. I still love Byron though. I'm going there after school next year for no more school celebrations.

Oh yeah, the only other time I've even come close was when I had a horse-riding accident when I was aged 12. Got a serious concussion and blacked out for (apparently) 10 minutes.

I was actually on a Cub Scout camp near a local horse-riding facility, so we went riding. I got this absolutely insane horse which stopped when we got to the base of this very steep hill of red clay - about to head up - and then bolted up throwing me from the saddle but catching my foot in the stirrup. Man that was freaky.

Once fainted right before laid myself properly in bed. There was no obvious reason for that and I remained conscious but unable to move a single muscle or gather thougts, plus it felt like I got pounded by a train and hit by some heavy voltage & a heat wave, so I thought it was the end of the story
