I'll ask some of you a question. I'm interested to know what you'd say...

What is a life with no regrets? Is it better/worse than strolling through life doingnothing out of the ordinary becuase you might regret it later?

 

As on off-topic life without regrets is good. But life without ever regretting anything... When mistakes are made, they need to be realised, consciously admitted and the lesson needs to be learnt before we move on. Then we can have a life with no regrets.

 

Of course, not admittining to yourself that you've made a mistake is selfbetrayal and it can't be good, but some people have different opinions than you about what is a mistake and what is not. I regret for not reading enough for a quite a few exams I've had but I sure do not regret the first time I had sex.

Personally I've never had any problems with using condoms (except for that damn awful smell which sticks to your hands). I think people who don't like them have either used bad quality condoms or just have an attitude problem with using rubber. In any case they are helpful against STD and unwanted pregnancies to a certain extent. Not 100% certain perhaps but enough certain for me to take the risk.

EDIT: Replaced the word "wear" with the word "use". After a second thought I figured that wearing a condom sounds somewhat strange.

I actually like condoms, I think they're fun. Hell, even wearing them can be fun, Morgoroth. My girlfriend hates them.

And believe it or not: there may be times you want to use them even if you're in a permanent relationship and don't fear STDs. I certainly can do without 14 kids...

Chev, I guess you need to have a highly romanticised and idealistic idea of love, marriage and sex to say that. Personally I only know a small handful of people who'd say so, and that includes about none of my friends.

No doubt, sex is great. But it ain't so great to wait for it for some 5, 10, 15 years of your concious life. When you're in love you very well, quite naturally, may want to have sex - and that isn't a sign of disrespect for the woman. Woman do have desires, too.

Don't put your aims that high. Reading you is essectially like reading a minnelied. That is, tongue in cheek, the worshipping of female purity as opposed to manly lust is ridiculous. IMO that she-must-be-a-virgin-thing is abolute nonsense.

This i's merely an appeal to be pragmatic and sensible. Choose carefully and be honest, be responsible. Chastity in itself is a tool, not an end in itself.

 

Not to mention not ideal. Women with some experience under their belts (pun intended) I have found to be more fun. Also, I smell a poll...

 

Wow. Not really sure what toughluck was trying to prove there. It just looked like the spead of misinformation by someone that doesn't like using a rubber. Shame on you for trying to convince the young and impressionable people visiting this board that using a condom is a waste of time.

When used correctly, a condom PREVENTS the spread of STDs and prevents pregnancy. Period. The biggest problem is too many people do not use condoms correctly. Too many people don't seem to understand that STDs are spread through contact -- that includes genital, oral, and anal (the frequency of these other methods of transfer should have been included in the analysis and labeled properly).

The ONLY surefire method of preventing pregnancy and the spread of STD is abstinence. Condoms are a distant second.
