Seriously, don't they have some kind of a law or penal regulations that defines what an inmate is entitled to or not? I mean given their status of revoked freedom. While it does sound ridiculous but I doubt that this is the first of it's kind.

If they can convince a judge that it is medically necessary for this piece of <feces> to get the change so his little feely wheelies won't be hurt or whatever, and they'll classify it as a frigging "right" and it'll all be done at taxpayer expense. What a nightmare.

[IMG] This thread really isn't what it looks like from the main page. I read:
"Convicted rapist wants sex..." Really, who would've thought?
    That's about as newsworthy as:
    "Young boys like to masturbate."
or "Women love Twilight Saga novels."
The only reason I checked it out, was to see why one of the most uninspired stories ever, made it as a thread topic.
But that simple word 'change' changes everything!:p

Hmm, could be an interesting mean of torture. Attached on a chair, eyelids forcefully kept open, watching the horrible piles of sickening crappy sappy emo garbage. Enough to make one want to take their life.

Wait, weren't some of you guys complaining about a kitten in a wheelie bin, or something like that? And here you are eagerly chanting to scoop a dude's testes out of his scrotum with a rusty spoon?

So, cruelty is OK when it's done against people we don't like? What happens if I don't like cats, because feral cats are rife in my neighbourhood, *****ing all over the place and killing birds?

Mordea has a point -- I don't like cats -- I hate them, to be perfectly honest. Now, I don't go out of my way to harm them, but if they are a nuisance I have no problem* eliminating them the same way I would swat a mosquito. Both are living creatures created by God, blah blah blah, but every animal has a right and an instinct to defend it's territory. Humans have that same right.

In the 1800s, when people treated animals like animals and people like people, it was common sense to drown unwanted kittens. Heck, my Dad was paid $1 by an old lady once to drown some kittens for her in 1934. We live in a different time now, in some ways, but we don't have the right to get all high and mighty and morally superior to our forefathers. I'm all for killing animals humanely, but they are animals -- not people -- and we need to save our true horror for people who are poorly treated, not animals. Yes, what the woman did was wrong, but it's not like she put a human in the dumpster. She put a cat there. Get a grip, people.

Oh, to address the original topic, this fellow is a rapist. To me, he is LESS than an animal. As I said before, I believe in humanely killing nuisance animals, but what this guy did makes me lose 99.999% of any sympathy or consideration that I ever had for him. No problem at all with him suffering.

*Other than the legal ones if I do so in a manner which endangers other humans.

    [tangent alert]

Why do some people hate cats? I never understood that. While I like cats and I like dogs, I don't expect everyone else to like them. But I've run into quite a few people who say "OH my GOD I HATE cats!"

I don't like rats, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I hate them. That would suggest some personal animosity, for which there is no due cause from a rat, even if it's being a rat-like a-hole. Being an a-hole would just make me dislike them.

Hate seems to be reseved for passion, and I can't see how any cat could inspire such passion in anyone, yet apparently they do.

    Maybe it's more of a fear-and-loathing type thing. ;)

    [edit]

Hm, maybe I should have put this in the 'Wheelie Bin' thread, except that thread's no longer about cats in wheelie bins. :p

I think some people use the term hate rather loosely. I personally dislike cats quite a bit, because I'm severely allergic to them, and over the years, cats as a group, have caused me quite a bit of extreme personal discomfort. I won't go so far as to say I hate them, as I know they are not deliberately causing the allergy symptoms, but I have absolutely no use for them. I don't have a problem if other people own them, but I won't be coming over for a visit.

Tangent continues: I hate cats because they get in the way. They shed all over the house, they stink, their feces stinks (I don't care how high tech the litter is), and their food stinks. They have no sense of loyalty as dogs do. If they are let outside they ruin gardens and flower beds, and they breed*. We have a serious feral cat problem here in my city.

So basically I hate housecats. I hate living in a house with them. I hate visiting friends with them. Wild cats living in forests or plains I have no problems with, but I can't stand the domesticated ones.

I also can't stand cat owners who care more about their pets than about other human beings. If someone has a cat, and then has a baby, and then finds out that the baby is allergic to cats, and their solution is to keep the kid constantly on anti-allergy medication because they "can't bear to get rid of Bootsie" then they have no, none, zero respect from me. That's just plain idiocy. As is letting your pets damage the property of other people. Wild animals are one thing, but if you own a cat and have such a deep emotional bond with the <snipping> thing, then control it and keep it the <snip> off my lawn and property. Otherwise, I am likely to treat it the same way I would treat any other wild, nuisance animal.

How does this relate to rapists? To me it all boils down to selfishness. If you afre so selfish that you place your feelings about a cat over the needs of another human being, you are a selfish twit. If you are a rapist, you use (by force or other unacceptable means) the bodies of other humans as your playthings, and you too are selfish. A million orders of magnitude more selfish than a cat owner, true, but to me the selfishness principle applies. Focus should be on the rights and well being of decent, law abiding people. The funds that would be used to give the rapist a sex change would be much, MUCH better spent on counselling and support for rape victims. Yet feel good new age folks, wanting to feel lilke they are "really" compassionate totally miss the mark by advocating for the rights of rapists rather than those of victims. Sickening.

*They breed because idiot owners "couldn't possibly do anything like that to dear old Bootsie!" Idiots.

    I fully support this idea.

I'll happily remove his junk. Dibs on choosing the method, though.

Wait, wait. In the 1800s, we treated people like people? Are you sure? I thought we treated them like animals, unless they were the uber-rich business owner in which case we treated them like royalty. Am I missing something?

Now, of course, we treat people like people and animals like other people, which is stupid, I'll agree (and I friggin' love cats), but don't romanticise the 1800s too much. We treated animals like animals, and people like other animals.

Compared to dogs, you have no room to complain about either smell or mess. Now, if you hate dogs as well, I understand. They fertilize a flower gardern. Seriously, we've had more problems with cats laying on the plants than digging them up. If they breed, that's not the cat's fault, that's the stupid owner's (as you mentioned). As for loyalty... yeah, you're right there. :D I prefer it, though. It adds adventure to my life, knowing that my housemate is plotting to kill me at every moment.

I wonder if people might be mistaking squirrels for cats as far as laying the blame for this mysterious garden-ruining goes. I've never seen a cat do anything in a garden but walk in it and lie in it (or maybe poop in it occasionally). Squirrels, on the other hand, wreck just about everything they get their little squirrel hands on. Or maybe rabbits? Other herbivores?

I'm sorry, for a moment I thought I was in the thread about the convict who wanted a sex change. Silly of me for not realizing that this was the cat in a wheelie bin thread, or the animal intelligence thread. No, wait, in fact I AM IN THE CONVICT SEX CHANGE thread. What the hell are all of you cat people doing in here??!!
