[IMG] For anime or manga Dragonball or Dragonball Z is of crap quality, there is much better, better drawn stuff especially, out there - just think about Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis or my favourite, Jin-Roh.

The bottom line is Dragon Ball is a comic, or manga whatever you put it. (Manga in my nation's language, Malay, stands for manggo, so i don't use it to represent japanese comics.) It starts out as a comic, get popular, went to TV and get out of hand.

One of the important elements you get from a comic is the drawing. At least drawing of the first 1/2 of the comic, i think, is original. Drawing of later part, i think, is from the original author's assistants. The author just draw a very crude outline and let the assistants polish them. Me and friend got really disappointed when we gradually feel that the drawing just wasn't it used to be anymore. As for the TV version, it is way way off. One of the major characteristic of the original ones is the unusual details presented in the drawings. Pictures present in TV, obviously, isn't very detailed.

Personally, i think the whole thing should stop when they finish off 'fri-za' in 'namik' (bear with my translation and names, because i read/watched the story in chinese) when gouku achieved super senya. That's it, the story is very complete that way already. But then, they decided to push it. The story gets really really lame when everyone, anyone who has senya blood can become super senya. i mean, what is that? Didn't they mentioned that super senya is supposed to be legendary? Then the story turns into series of fighting and fighting without content just like what you had in Hong Kong comics. It is not that innovative anymore.

As for the hilarious charging up part. Well, this is very common in Asian culture, especially the Chinese and Japanese. We have taken it for granted and we don't find it anyway off. If you turn into other series-of-fighting Japanese comics, chances are, you will get this hilarious charging up part also.

Man, I love animes and Mangas and i'm not ashamed of that. And also, dragonball is made for kids, so it is only fair that it seems sort of imature. I mean a fat man dressed in red in a sled with reindeers seems kind of stupid, doesn't it? But it's fun.
