    Anyway, James Earl Jones is a very good actor for info I suggest you see: http://us.imdb.com/Name?Jones,+James+Earl

    His best role is probably in Cry the beloved country - an excellent film too few people have seen. When you see the photos I am sure you will remember, he was in countless films. (well 150 according to the IMDb).


    EDIT: To avoid confusion the man inside Vader's suit was David Prowse who was indeed the Green cross code man in the UK. So in a manner of speaking Darth Vader was played by a brit. :evil:

    Those guys in 'Deliverance' were pretty scary! A few years ago, I canoed down the river that the movie was filmed on. And the people there were wonderful :) Met a tobacco-chewing river guide named Amy-Joe :D No psycho hill-billies in sight though.

    Can't think of a 'smart' villian with a southern accent at the moment. But, ever notice that in a lot older (1950's, 1960's)WW2 movies, the Germans almost always have English accents?

    English evil? I would have to agree that I have seen many a film where the bad-guys are played by english characters. And why? Because the accent is cool and all cool Brits (Jeremy Irons 4 1) have an aura of power and control about them. As for what history says... well... I think England has done many bad things. But let's face it... more than 50% of all the things in your home have been invented by the Empire and it's scientists. But evil is relative...Oliver Cromwell is considered evil as well as good. I mean, he was the lord protector.

    OK, how about a Scottish viewpoint here? Girlfriends English so i'm obviously not too biased, but the English are potrayed in films as villans simply because the clipped british accent is a cool for a villan to have.
    Another reason might be from them being seen as evil oppressors throughout the British empire. But English people are ok, except during England/Scotland games ;)
