    I just thought of something; wouldn't this 'quiz' be revealing of Ethical Style in more subtle ways?

    If for example you were to look at one of these brief questions, and dither over the two diametrically opposed choices, and think "it really depends on the specific circumstances, doesn't that by definition fit the #2 - Situational Based Ethics that Snook listed in the OP? :)

    It's like me with my coin-flipping - if I am given two choices for supper, or something else completely arbitrary and I can't consciously find any preference for one or the other, I'll assign each choice to heads or tails, flip the coin, and then if I suddenly want to say 'best two out of three' then I know which choice I subconsciously want. :D

    Depends. :p If you regard specific circumstances as rule generators, then yes. If you regard specific circumstances as guidance in what principle to apply, then not. The phrase, "it really depends on the specific circumstances," does not preclude the latter option, strictly speaking.

    Not the unvarnished truth, but a lie will only cause greater harm (maybe not stalling but going ahead with the suicide attempt) when it is exposed. The truth happens, regardless of the situation. You may be able to swipe and censor the Dear John letter, but you won't be able to bring back the guy's wife and kids...

    So then a low magnitude theft would be worse than a major violation of a promise? Stealing a loaf of bread from a prosperous bakery to feed a starving family is more readily forgivable than breaking a trust on a confidential matter...

    To some people, the above is absolutely true, and to others, it's is equally absolutely false.

    I love how a personality quiz gets its answers argued over which is 'right' and which is 'wrong'. :lol:

    Gnarff, the survey explicitly spells out that the acts in question were done for no good reason[/i], so your hypothetical has no place, here. Like I keep repeating, it all comes down to what you stole versus what promise you broke.

    And, if he shoots himself in the head, you won't be able to bring the guy back, either.
