hehe. well I'm 20 (turning 21 this year) abnd I don't have any similar feelings...

Maybge it has to do with working or something? :/ (i'm still studying)

 

I can positively state that the 30th BD is the worst.

 

Turning 30 wasn't SO bad, but at the time my daughter was in her two's and learning to talk, so that may have taken my mind off the age thing.

It seems worse now that I'm getting close to 40...

Some folks around here are young enough to be my children. How's THAT for feeling old?

The upside is that we can pull out vintage TV shows to stump you kids in the trivia threads.

I was gioven a great piece of advice on the matter...

There's nothing wrong with feeling old. I plan on being one of those grumpy old grampas who is always moaning about something and who everyone thinks is a bit senile but is really just pretending and every now and again catches one of his grandkids out when they try and trick him or do something naughty.

 

Just 6 more years till we start feeling young again Ziad!

Hum, this reminds me of something my brother told me a couple of months ago. He used to have a gotee (spelling?) which he would never shave. Then, he shaved it some months ago. When I asked him why, he said: "When I was 19, people thought I was 17, so I let it grow so people would think I'm 25. Now that I'm 25, and people think I'm 27, I'm shaving it in the hopes of looking like a 19 year old".

I remember that. When I watch sports now, I often find myself watching the sons of guys that I watched earlier in life.

Thats the truth. Although the shock and horror of realising what happened passed faster than I would have thought. Just a few days of feeling numb with pain...

Still, I am glad its over now.

If not for those troublesome younger people I could be at ease.

Please, please folks - you're only as old as you are!

I'm 24, and soon to be 25, and I freaked out at 20, because I thought "I've been here 20 years, and what have I accomplished?" 24 isn't old; it's just starting. At 24, you're old enough to realise that you really don't know jack, and have a hell of a lot to learn, which is why I laugh whenever someone younger than me acts like an uppity know-it-all. Probably why I get a fair bit of grief, too, come to think of it.

I still feel old when the first-years hit the university in O-Week, though: I think "hell, I'm almost half as old again as these kids - was that what I looked like?" Worse when you're at the uni pub and that happens, I tend to feel like a functional alcoholic except that I don't have a bar tab.

I have to agree about HB's comments, though - you're really feeling old when your body can't cope with the abuse it did when you were 17. My right knee is about 30 years older than me, and my back is trying to catch up. Just helps to remind me that I'm not going to be young and (semi-)athletic forever, and to enjoy it while it lasts.

 

It's not so much the age that bothers me, I am 23, but the passage of time. You remember, for those not afflicted with alzheimer's yet, when you were a kid and the days NEVER seemed to end? Now it's like I wake up, shower shave and stuff, turn around, and it's my bedtime again. We are getting robbed of our time. I say we all sign a petition to make the days longer, and start siphoning the energy off kids 10 and younger, who never stop moving. It could even be an alternative fuel source. Now where was I? I forget, and it's getting so hard to read this small print... Oh well time for my nap.
