platter, i used to run D&D planescape games before they brought out the 3rd edition.

the blood war is a war between order and chaos, the tanari and the bateezu, the tanari represent chaos and the bateezu order they both hate eachother because they are demons which are simply very different.
i think that the blood war could easily be ended by an outside force, the strongest demon the true tanari (a huge demon dragon) wouldnt be as powerful as a transcended being
evil will always be fighting amongst itself, but that isnt the blood war

"If you thought the point of the ending was that he became unstoppable and was going to end the Blood War you completely missed the whole point of the game."
i guess this would depend on your alignment, if your evil then the point of the game could be to recover your lost power to become an ultimate being,
neutral you would probably fight to regain the order that your past lives have lost
good, to repent the sins of your past incarnations

First of all, what are you talking about he's transcended? TTO had transcended from Nameless, now he is mortal again. The game says this. Yes that would give him a lot of power to have all the memories of all his previous incarnations, but that doesn't make him inhuman in some way. Now he's just a mortal who happens to have thousands of lives worth of experience.

The fact that you ran Planescape games and still think Nameless could end the Blood War is just weird. Why do you think Nameless is for some reason now more powerful than Powers, who disappear when they get involved in the Blood War? There is nothing at all to suggest this. You're just making it up out of nowhere. Where in the game does it say this? At least show me the part of what Coaxmetal says that you think is saying Nameless/TTO will end the Blood War.
So much time is devoted to explaining how the Blood War could (and should) never end. It is an integral part of the setting. Like I say, it helps emphasize Law vs Chaos moreso than Good vs Evil.

He was immortal because he was separated from his mortality... that is no longer the case, and now he's got a crapload of lifetimes to gain experience from. That doesn't make him the most powerful being in existence.

As for the "point of the game," I mean the point of the story being told. Regardless of your alignment, didn't you notice certain themes that were constant throughout the entire story? Kicking ass was not a huge part of that.
An endless amount of text was used to develop themes such as torment, identity, death, and regret/redemption/accepting punishment. But you're saying the whole point of the story was in a few sentences in one conversation with a character you're not even guaranteed to meet?
