The only reason I didn't post that link a week ago is that I was too busy playing Borderlands and Dragonage in my free time :1eye: Good find, Kit :) ... and, it gets even better with Hannity's disingenuous apology (tellingly to John, no less, and not to the audience he suckered. Speak about ego.)

and John Stewart's follow-up on it.

PS: As far as 'inadvertant mistakes' of that sort go, they appear to be an enduring problem at FOX that goes to some length to tell stories the way they want to see them told. Or here, then they deliberately distorted an Obama speech at the European parliament, accusing him of 'blaming America first', when Obama just did not that, explicitly, only seconds later.

PPS: Fox News displayed old campaign footage to claim Palin is getting ‘huge crowds’ at her book signings - subtitled: 'Palin's drawing crowds', which, you know, technically, is correct, because the actual footage doesn't say where and when. You couldn't make this up ...

You may as well call it what it is. I think it's great news that this whole deal is her first strategic move for 2012 (aside from all the money she's raking in along the way). I was afraid she wasn't going to run. There was a chance that the Republicans might field a real candidate, since Obama appears to be losing much of his popularity. Nevertheless, it appears Republicans are about to doom themselves. No doubt, she will win the nomination, and easily. They remind me of the Democrats in the pre-Clinton days.

The thing I find most amusing is her support is because she portrayed herself as the "common (wo)man". That may have been true a few years back when she was Mayor of Wasilla, and it may have been marginally true when she was Governor of Alaska (to be honest I never heard of her before she was nominated as VP). However, between her speaking engagements and this book, she will earn millions this year, making her quite unlike the typical person. (And it pretty much goes without saying that once you get on a presidential ticket - even as the VP - that's pretty darn unommon.)

One thing is pretty certain (and I think this could be a problem for the GOP): It appears that she is going to run in 2012. Regardless of whether or not she wins the nomination is almost moot. Her presence on the list of candidates is going to force all the other Republican hopefuls to move far to the right in order to compete. That's probably the worst thing they can do. A moderate Republican could present a formidible challenge to Obama. With Palin, she has a fanatical base that will support her, and will get some tag-along Republicans who will vote for her on the basis that she isn't Obama, but I don't see her pulling in many independents, which would doom her in a general election.

Ok Rags, what's the chart pertaining to? My guess is it's a poll that shows what percentage of Republicans would back each candidate, with Palin having the most if she won the nomination. Just a guess though. I don't really see what else it could pertain to.

You're probably right Blades. In January of last year, if you asked Democrats, assuming he won the Democratic nomination, would you support Obama, then asked two follow up questions and changed the name to Hillary, and then to Edwards, it is very possible that you'd see a very similar graph. I wasn't a big fan of Hillary, but I certainly would have voted for her if she was the nominee.

    Blades,
it's still a pie diagram, which means the numbers ought to add up to 100%.

Yes, it would be quite strange to give the average GOP voter 1.9-ish votes...

And I know some people (not on these boards) will blame it on ACORN.
