    Comments:
I normally don't repost the cell phone games, but I spent way too long playing Arkanoid and Arkanoid II:Revenge of Doh as a kid on my Apple IIGS so thought I'd share. My phone's charging, and I don't know how well the game will work with the phone's interface instead of a mouse or joystick.
A friend had "Yellow Submarine" on his Apple IIe and it was a decent side-scrolling shooter, but I thought "Sea Dragon" was better (although Sea Dragon was "Nintendo Hard" although not made by Nintendo. It was made by Thunder Mountain, the makers of Dig Dug.). Again, haven't tried the Android version, only the original Apple II version.

There was a fan remake of Star Control 2:The Ur-Quan Masters made about 15 years ago. Works great on a 22 year old computer with Win98SE or XP. I haven't tested it on anything newer.

Here is a fan-made remake of Quest for Glory II that tries it's best to imitate the Q4G1 remake's look and feel. Runs great on a 22 year old computer.

One is a virtual jigsaw puzzle that lets you import any graphic into the program. I'm aware Macs had a similar program included with Mac OS System 7-9.
Also was the self proclaimed "Best [Virtual] Rubik's Cube" program, which is really a very good Rubik's Cube simulator, which is the game I'm recommending here. Works on my 22 year old computer.

Halo is Marathon's spiritual successor, and re-used several elements from Marathon.
IMHO, it's like when they made Halo they decided to reboot the Marathon Trilogy, then decided to make it a totally new franchise inspired by Marathon but going in a new direction. Kind of like some of the different Gundam series.

Desktop Dungeons alpha, the alpha version of Desktop Dungeons Enhanced Edition, is quite complete by itself and offers tons of contents. It’s rogue+puzzle+math to me and probably not for everyone, but it’s absolutely addictive if you enjoy its gameplay.

How about some classics in the Roguelike genre?
These should run on virtually any PC made in the last 30 years. They are probably well known to fans of the Roguelike genre, but it came to my attention I should call attention to these old classics for the next generation.
Of course, we start with Rogue itself, grandfather of the genre. Without Rogue's quest for the Amulet of Yendor we'd have never had Diablo or any other roguelike.
    https://www.free-culture.ir/Rogue_1984-The_DOS_Game-The_History-The_Science.html

    Then there was uMoria
    https://umoria.org/
Note that if you can't run this version, search for the game with Google and you can find the older DOS version. This game has also been ported to the Macintosh (both 68K and modern), Linux, Unix, and the Apple IIGS (Available on the Ground or Caltech FTP mirrors).
Another good clone was Project Omega.
    http://www.alcyone.com/max/projects/omega/
Omega also has been ported to Mac, Unix, Linux and the Apple IIGS (although the link for the latter isn't above. You'll have to find it on either the Apple II Ground or Caltech FTP mirrors)

    Nethack is another old classic

This was recommended, but I need to free up HD space before giving it a whirl

BTW, the original Space Quest I and II can be found on the Apple IIGS Memory Fairway, now called "What is the Apple IIGS" as well as the "Asimov FTP site" (both IIGS and IIe versions on the latter, the GS version is far superior due to it being the next generation hardware).
No links because they might be considered piracy as they are AbandonWare sites and Asimov was considered a pirate site in the mid '90s as a few companies still had some of the titles listed in their mail-order catalog (Mostly educational titles for use with a IIe Card.) until the end of the 20th century.

Well, looks like the second blizzard not as bad as feared.
We're not getting much accumulation this time, but it only started 2 hours ago. Still only a dusting.
    Anyways, this week on Epic:
    Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/yooka-laylee-and-the-impossible-lair

    Also Epic is offering this:
    N0va Desktop
    https://www.epicgames.com/store/en-US/p/n0va-desktop

    Suggested on GoG]:

Although this game I found is an online multi-player title. The game supports a full single player mode as well. It is still being developed and when you go to their Discord channel. You can talk directly to the developers and even offer help and ideas.

The game runs on intel gpu's of a modern generation, so technically, those could be viewed as a potato. The Thief fan made content and Anomaly are a little up there. But yeah. Some can play them and its pretty cute too!

    Game title:

    Veloren
    https://veloren.net/

If you want the latest version for offline single play mode, heres a link:
    https://veloren.net/download-other/

Grab the Nightly of your OS. As they state, you do not get automatic updates and must return there to get any updated versions each time, if you do not use their Launcher. If you use their launcher, you should be just fine for auto updates and the multi-player aspect. But I cannot confirm this as I only tested their single player nightly.

Kind of has a Neverwinter game play with a WASD control meets Minecraft graphics. But if you played minecraft, you will get really confused. All in all decent game. Just needs adjusting to it.

Couple more roguelikes have been suggested on SV:
BORK'S FREE ROGUELIKES (THAT AREN'T DWARF FORTRESS, CDDA OR ANY OVERCOMPLICATED CRUD)

    BROGUE

A graphically updated version of Rogue with a mouse interface and all of the RNG BS that makes dungeon roguelikes great. Get this while you can.

    The Ground Gives Way

Extremely traditional ASCII graphics but more than makes up for it with a crap-load of items, simple combat mechanics and surprising amounts of depth in a tiny package.

This site has a lot of free RPGMaker games. RPGMaker games look and feel like a lot of SNES RPGs like Final Fantasy IV, Secret of the Stars, Paladin Quest (ok, maybe not as I don't see the funky colors), Earthbound, Lufia, Breath of Fire, Live a Life, etc.
    https://rpgmaker.net/games/

Oh, if you haven't heard of any of the titles I mentioned, I recommend all of them, but they aren't free and are hard to find without resorting to piracy and emulation these days, but we don't talk about downloading ROMs on SP so I can't help you here at SP.

IndieGala is offering Leisure Suit Larry 1. From the pictures it looks like the original AGI version that was ported to the Apple IIGS among other platforms. Released before the days of the ESRB ratings, I recall my mother actually bought it as a birthday gift for me in 1991 not realizing it was an adult game. She was familiar with King's Quest and Gold Rush, and saw "Sierra 3D animated adventure" and bought it for my 12th birthday. It was...educational although a lot of the adult humor flew over my head, I appreciated it more when I got older.
From the screenshots, it looks like they made it work for Win10. It doesn't look like the VGA remake as they look identical to what I recall on the IIGS version.

I'm not sure if I can provide this link, but there are screenshots and a description of the version I've owned since I was a kid here to see why I compared it to the IIGS version:

Influent is free on Humblebundle. Not really much of a game, more for helping people learn languages.

I want to mention that there is a thread on gog.com that updates frequently that mentions giveaways on itch.io. As in several times a week. I've never heard of any of the games mentioned, and my HD is full so I'm not downloading anything until I get a new job and a bigger HD.
Anyways, there were enough updates flooding the other threads that they felt they needed to give this its own thread just for one site's free games.

I found two more things of interest. First is on GoG, which might be a limited time thing. It's a Witcher-themed card game.
    https://www.gog.com/partner/gwent?pp=632667547e7cd3e0466547863e1207a8c0c0c549

Second is Escape Velocity, including Escape Velocity Nova on this Reddit thread...
**EDIT: Never mind, I didn't read it carefully enough, I thought it was freeware but it was a Warez link. I hadn't actually downloaded it.
The original place I found it implied it was freeware and was linked to on a site that did not permit warez links.

Indie Gala is offering Leisure Suit Larry 2 and LSL1 is still available. The banner looks like the VGA remake version, but the screen shots look like the original.

Steam is having a "RPGmaker Festival" which if you pay attention to the page is showcasing some free RPGMaker games. It's quite a few screen fulls down.

also they are offering "Children of Morta " for a limited time, but I'm unclear if you lose the key after that time is up.

A couple people found some more stuff on GoG's forums.

Indie Gale has put up another puzzle game, basically the same thing as before but with new pictures.
Also I found that if you use the hamburger menu from the below link and choose "Showcase" there are a lot more free games than if you click on the "freebies" link. Some are NSFW, but those seem to have blurred preview pics.

This FPS was mentioned as being free on Microsoft's store, but when I checked the link it was listed as a "Free trial". I'm not clear if it's only free for the next 19 days or if it's actually free. I'm not really interested in it, so don't want to bother downloading.
Could somebody confirm if it's free for a limited time or if you can only play it for about a month?

Well, if it's just a trial, there's Hitman Sniper on Android free for a limited time:

Copperbell now free on Indiegala for a short time

A bunch more android games were listed on GoG's forum. I'm just aggregating stuff from a half a dozen different places, I rarely find anything on my own.

This week on Epic, Cris Tales.
Finally an RPG, only the second I recall since the Pathfinder on Christmas. The tag line reminds me of Chronotrigger, but I won't get to try it until tonight.
