@Morgoroth : I would prefer our country to have an attitude similar to France. Not completely denying yet leaving history to historians. Also I would prefer 3rd countries not to get involved in this event.

I've seen a very interesting article from a newspaper today. After the invasion of Lebanon by Israel, UN soldiers from some countries were sent there. Also recently Turkish Army sent there some soldiers too. Armenians living there didn't want Turkish soldiers to come but French did nothing. If they love Armenians so much why didn't they say anything about that? Because instead of wasting their soldiers letting Turks go and do the dangerous job is easier. That's another example of their hypocrisy. Whether what happened to them was a genocide or not, these people will live the pain of the past again when they see Turkish soldiers there.

After these words how could some Kemalists accept his words as dogmas I will never understand. Life changes so Ataturk's ideas which are derived from life may be outdated too. OTOH his ideas about economical independence aren't outdated. As Kara Ay said IMF is the biggest reason for problems in our economy. Another problem is Customs Union (with EU). IMHO these are the greatest threats to Turkey now. If Turkish Republic collapses one day, the reason will be certainly IMF or Customs Union.

 

Mithrantir,You are right,Turkey would lose some advantages when he/she left all the organizations affliated with Eu...
But here's some info there's a organization called "Gümrük Birligi/Border Union"(or sometihng like that) and contrary to usual we entered this union without entering the EU first...
And AFAIK that is a disadvantage for us because Eu countries can sell their merchandise to Turkey with low tax rates while Turkey has to sell merchandise to EU countries with higher tax rates... All in all,Turkey loses when it comes to import/export with EU countries... That's why Eu leaders should realise losing Turkey is bad business... Not because we are so precious but because Turkey is like an open market to them...

Both Eu and Turkey would suffer if links were broken but at the point Turkey is now,Eu would lose more... In NATO, AFAIK Usa has the biggest controlling power so we wouldn't have to leave NATO...But NATO was originally made for standing against Soviets....And there is no Soviet Socialist Union anymore only Russia...
Some more info for you,Erdogan isn't the first to want to join Eu..All the leaders before him wanted that but when they realised how much work they would have to go through, they always gave up...But Ecevit started the process not Erdogan...

And Dengo i hope you realise that most of the people in Turkey who claim to be Kemalists, aren't Kemalists...They simply say they are,If there were more real Kemalists in Turkey...Turkey wouldn't be where she/he is now...

Yes I agree. If he was alive we wouldn't have this thread. Because he called what happened to Armenians as a "shameful act". The problem is some stupids who call themselves as Kemalists harm country by getting involved in a crime that was committed by some Ottoman Pashas. As long as we deny their crime, we will get involved in their crime (which has no relationship with modern Turkish Republic that Ataturk established) too.
