Yeah...Headey is abit...off..at times. I can see her doing better though, once she gets more screentime. Same goes for the woman playing Catelyn, I suppose.

They begin shooting season 2 this summer. I saw that grim caretaker fellow (the one with the cat) from the Harry Potter movies, has been cast as Walder Frey. I can`t think of anyone better for that part. Still...makes me wonder who they cast as Stannis, Melisandre, and Brienne though.

Is the Mr Filth guy old enough for Walder Frey? He's meant to be totally decrepit isn't he? Like, older than the Maester at the wall. Mark Strong would be an ideal Stannis. Brienne, no idea... some unknown female body-builder-come-actor I guess!

Yeah, Walder Frey is damn old. But it looks like they have changed the age of the characters abit here and there. So exact age in the books isn`t that important.

Cersei as played by Headey looks constipated all the time. WTF is she playing at? I've always liked her looks before, but her performance in GOT is confusing me.

All in all, still a damn good series. Any word on when they'll release it on DVD?

Haha yeah, she does now you mention it.

Not sure, but I'm sure it will be pretty soon after the series ends - they'll want to strike while the iron is hot. I'll be buying the Bluray as soon as it's out.

They usually release the DVD/BlueRay about 6 months after the series aired, to start building buzz for the upcoming season (and to exhaust repeats on the paid channels).

I love Lena Headey, but her expressions are a little off-putting, I agree. Not because they're bad necessarily, but because she looks like she knows what she's doing is wrong/immoral but knows that power requires ruthlessness. To me this is part of what makes her a more sympathetic character than (I'm told) she was intended to be in the books. I don't really see anyone on GoT as particularly evil (except for Joffrey and Viserys, of course). But I do see plenty of people willing to do terrible things not out of enjoyment but out of fear of losing power (Jamie, Cersei, Littlefinger). Headey's performance keeps Cersei from coming off as a vapid harpy, making her harder to read. I kind of like that.

Joffrey, Viserys and The Mountain (Gregor) were pretty evil as far as being cruel for the fun of it; the rest are pretty much ruthless.

I can join the band-wagon now. Yesterday I had the opportunity to watch the two first episodes, and I liked it.

I'm not familiar with the books this originates from, but judging by the show, they must be good.

Love the themes and the bluntness that are portrayed there, and it was long overdue for some classic Sword and sorcery on TV, that is more than Xena.

The cast is quite good, and Boromir is playing his part quite well. Sean look always so fitting in Leather-Armor.

Yeah, you haven't seen much of Gregor in the HBO series yet. You've seen him at the joust and then heard about him raiding at the Lannisters behest. And I think you heard about what he did to The Hound (Sandor) when they were kids. You will likely see more of him later... :)

I've been watching the series with Teen Snook.

He was rendered speechless when Ned lost his head. He had never heard of a book that killed off the main character. I think once he gets out of school he is going to start reading the series.

    Only one more episode :(

I was underwhelmed by the casting choice for Shae. She's somewhat attractive, but in my mind's eye I saw Shae as being so effing hot a guy would walk through fire fir the chance to touch her. This chick wasn't anywhere close to that degree of hotness.

Tyrion's role in the battle was altered far too drastically from the books. Not cool.

Joffrey is played by a real up and comer. That kid really knows how to be a first class douche. I wonder if he could play anything so well or if ge just benefitted from some really good directing.

I too was mad when Lord Stark, whom I perceived as the best character in the whole drama, died on hies knees branded a traitor- and lair. The later by his own tongue.

    What a poor end...

Well...Ned is more of a catalyst, I guess. Without him, there would still be peace.

He was stunned and couldn't believe they did it, but he wasn't mad about it. We discussed it later and he thought it was a very bold move by an author.

I'll tell you what I see as bold -- watching something as graphic as GOT with your teenage kid! What with all the nudity, I myself would be ExTREMELY uncomfortable watcning it with one of my kids*.

This is not a criticism, mind you, Snook. I have no idea how old teen Snook is or the nature of your father-son bond. I'm probably just revealing myself to be an old fuddy duddy. Still, it certainly grabbed my attention when I saw you say that!

I guess I was expecting Ned's beheading so I wasn't that shocked. To a viewer who had not read the books, though, I can see their shock.

*or for that matter, with my father!
