BTA, I think I can guess what those things taste like. Doesn't sound like I'm missing anything.

Christmas food in NZ probably isn't very exotic, with the only difference being that we're more likely to have a barbecue in the summer sun than a big roast dinner inside. Otherwise it will be all ham, turkey, trifle, and mince pies.

If Christmas lunch doesn't contain the following I am most upset.

    Roast Turkey + Cranberry Sauce
    Roast Potatoes (Crispy ones.)
    Roast Parsnips
    Sprouts
Other veg, usually includes carrots, leeks in cheese sauce.
    Bread sauce
    Stuffing
    Chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon.

And remember to take the Cheese ball or olive tray to where the Euchre game has erupted (or make sure it erupts around said goodies)...

Pavalova! You can't not have pavalova for Christmas! A BBQ, cold drinks, christmas pudding, pavalova, and sunshine, is Kiwi Christmas food. Doesn't look like we'll be getting some of those this year though :(

Yes, a card came where all you use is the 9, 10, J, Q, K and A of each suit. One suit is declared "trump" and can take any other suit played. The Jask of the trump suit is called the "Right Bauer" and is the highest card in the game. The Jack of the other suit (diamonds when Hearts is Trump) is the "Left Bauer" and is second only to the right bauer. Otherwise it plays like Bridge (5 tricks in a hand, trump calling team has to take 3 of 5 tricks or you get "euchred").

The game goes to 10 points, with 1 point for a win, 2 for going 5 out of 5 or "euchring" your opponents, and 4 point for a lone hand (making trump, declaring that you will play alone and getting all 5 tricks).

Where it works in this thread is You and one of your opponent take the one snack tray that you like and set it to one side of you while the other two players do the same and you either trade goodie platters periodically to switch positions when you want the other goodies. You would only switch partners between games though...

Rotku! Enjoy your pavlova! Hope you made it yourself and didn't buy it at the supermarket.

Na, pavlova takes too long to make, and never quite turns out right (usually deflates). Supermarket ones are the best, I'm sad to say.
