Iraq is currently in violation of dozens of UN resolutions having to do with weapons development and proliferation. The full charges were released yesterday, and I posted them in another thread.

So basically, joacqin, you're arguing that if you fight a just war and sign a surrender treaty, and the loser refuses to abide by that treaty, then the victors are not allowed to go back in and enforce it because they would be the big bad aggressors.

Ejsmith, I know how it works quite well, thank you. Knock it off. Thanks for the radiation breakdown, though. I was saying the same thing to Extremist when he was complaining about U.S. military depleted uranium rounds in the Balkans.

Basicly yes Shralp, that is what I am saying. You are propagating the ancient verse it is the victor that writes the history, which it is.
If no inspectors are let in, how can anyone know what they have? And if they have who would they use them agains? Attack the US, and say kill a few thousand persons in a horrible act of warcrime? Only to be completely eradicated from the surface on the earth? How would they even get the stuff to the US? Didnt 9/11 teach you anything? The threath against the US isnt from big batches of biological, nuclear or chemical weapons manufactored and stockpiled by another nation who may be unfriendly towards them. The threath is from maniacs with small knives, lunatics that are willing to sacrifice their lives to kill what they consider to be enemies. The acts themselves are carried out alone, by individual people. They might have been planned by a greater group but the acts are solitary or small groups. It is neigh impossible to protect oneself from attacks like that with force of arms. Its hard over all. The only solution is to make your enemy your friend, to take away the reason, however obscure you might believe that might be for people choosing to devout their lives for a cause instead of living their own lives. Thats nothing a single nation can but its a task for the world. What does it matter if you take away Saddam from power in Iraq when it might create an entire new generation in the middle east who views us westerners as evil? Isnt it better to work for democracy and humanity? Not to support corrupt dictatorships just because they might be a bit friendly to us, at the moment? The west supported Saddam once upon a time, even though he was a terrible dictator that murdered his own people, today we support other dictators because they are doing what we consider proper. What will they do tomorrow? True, some nations in the middle east may get anti west goverments if the people get to decide, but that is the peoples choice, and they can change. Education, healthcare, order all of these things should inevitable take away the support for extremist groups.

If anyone read through that chunk of text I am impressed by you.

I read it and agree with most of it.
Why would a president take his country into war with only 50% of the populations support?

Because he only needs 50% of the people to vote for him to be re-elected?

@Z-Layrex: What a fantastic reason to go to war; irritation with the ethnicity of the other country. That makes me feel much better about the impending conflict...at least we'll have the moral high ground. :bang:

Yes maybe we are America's puppy. But, is that such a bad thing? It just puts Britain in a better position than the rest of Europe. Who's gonna mess with Britain when she's got America as her big brother?...

    Z-Layre, make no mistake.

They hate you all every bit as much as they hate us.

But, you don't have nearly as many troops stationed over there as we do. They see the American flag a whole, whole bunch; so naturally, they are focused.

But, if they manage to finish up with us, they'll take a few days off, and then start in on you all. Britian has entirely too many ties to the US, for them not to have "agents" over there too.

For everyone who has no clue:

Here's the deal. When you're president, and YOU are actually making the decisions, it winds up you have two choices.

    A) You can grab a rifle, and go hunting for all your enemies.

    B) You can setup a static ambush, and wait for them to come to you.

And, the catch here is, you are directly responsible for your choices by everyone else in the entire country. You CAN be locked up in prison for acting, or a failure to act. Specifically, the number of YOUR people that are tallied up in the casualities are the variable.

    Personally, I say wait.

I want dead people. I want so many people dead, right here in my hometown, that we don't have time to bury the bodies before they start decaying and releasing arsenic/E-coli/lead/vitamin-A into the environment. I want the National Guard in here, under "State of Emergency" orders, stacking up bodies on flatbed cars and rolling them out of town on the railroads just to find a place to start burning them before they polute the groundwater. In short, everything that is done after a 7.8 earthquake (Richter scale).

Because that is the only way a vast percentage of people, here in the US, take note and learn. A specific situation can occur 50 times in recorded history, but *THIS* time, it's different. Or at least, that's what they think. Or they believe that their paygrade isn't affected by this turn of events, so they don't want to get involved. It's none of their business. At least, right up until someone makes it their business.

I want to cure the disease, not sit here and play Mickey Mouse gamez with the symptoms for 100 years. I want the source *erradicated*. I want people to hate terrorism SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much, that it never even enters their minds that it could be a solution. I want people worried about everyone else, like their lives were at stake. I want to see 100 cars pulled over on the side of the road, just so they could talk to that homeless-guy/wanderer.

The problem is Society, not the terrorists. WE made them. WE let them exist.

{note: I'm going to be quiet now.

Feel free to substitute "terrorists" for your personal choice. Dictators, child molestors, kidnappers, racists, etc.)

ejsmith i do see your point. In a large scale terrorist attack on Britain, while the emotional damge would be the same as the USA's, it would likely do more damage to the country as a whole (seeing how it is alot smaller). This is what scares the hell out of me. But, it's a risk i'm willing to take. America fights on, even though it's in complete and utter danger of another attack, so i think Britain should do the same, regardless of the threat.

[IMG] EJSmith, your last comment was right on target. Don't feel like you should be quiet at ALL in the future. If everyone thought like you, terrorism would be on its way out...instead, our government supports those who finance terror ops [Saudi Arabia].
