I think I would go with either a battle axe and large tower shield. Me and my horse would cut y'all down.

Range- crossbow, definately, one good shot and that armor is pierced.

Dual- Mace in right and axe in left, crunching and slashing all night long.

Single x/ shield- scimitar, i can always drop the shield for one good head-slice-off motion

Single- Custom made, non-curved sword, between longsword and short sword length; or a big two-handed mace for the Happy Gilmore Swing

Staff or spear - they serve as both offensive and defensive weapons.

I'd stick with a good 'ol rapier. Maybe add a buckler and dagger or shortsword to the mix.

I prefer finesse, being small of frame, and what says finesse quite like a rapier?

I'd have to go with a nice, big, heavy two-handed sword.

From the initial post I thought he meant medieval like what weapons were used in that era in Europe. If this is correct, then all people wanting Katanas, it's not here you'll get it.

BTW, there is a large mistake in BG concerning the two-handed sword, at least how it was in reality. It wasn't slashing, it was cruching, they never bothered keeping it sharp, is was meant to inflict damage by it's shear weight, not the sharpness of it's blade.

I also don't understand why they see the katana as a one-handed weapon, while it is more like the Bastard Sword a one-hand-and-a-half weapon.

I would have gone two wepons myself except for the fact, that you need a lot of skill before you can put two weapons two as practical use as a single weapon or a weapon and sheild, I got the Staff idea from watching how much arse Mat Cauthon kicked in "the Dragon Reborn" (and all when he was practically starved to death too)

another weapon I might take would be a double headed Halberd only smaller at the ends and fairly light and compact.

Trebushet. Now hold still and let me squish you. :)

Throwing daggers or axes - no need to draw, just throw the damn thing.

Wakizashi and dirk. Katanas are too big for me so I'll take the mini one.

a long rope with metal head of a spear attached to it. i don't know how do you call this kind of weapon. Very hard to use, so i am not afraid if this falls into enemy's hand (not that i will let it falls into enemy's hand after i have mastered this weapon). This is not a weapon of fantasy, some Shaolin monks in China still practice with this kind of weapon.

It has range from its rope. And Chinese proverb says "one inch longer, one inch stronger". It is extremely flexible. Rope spear is not a rigid as wood spear, right? Because it doesn't has a rigid form, my enemy simly cannot anticipant how would my attack takes form. Even if i cannot pierce with the spear head, i still can use the rope as a weapon. Cool weapon.

If taking chinese martial art fantasies into consideration, my prefered weapon would be either water or leaves.

Water has no shape so i can shape them however i want. If i run out of water, ie in desert, i can always cut myself and use my blood (how heroic?). As for leaves, i can just pluck a leaf, use it as dart to pierce through people. Even better, i can pluck a poison ivy and use it as weapon. nothing beats that.

Flail for plain coolness, Katana also for coolness and a scythe also for plain coolness ;)

id also go a poisoned hand crossbow for more "stealthy/strategic" tasks :D

    I like maces.

But I like swords even more! Does not really matter as long as you can stab and slash with it.

@Death Rabbit and Oaz: Excellent choices!

Mace, for much the same reason as already mentioned by Faragon - it don't matter who you are, you get in the way and you'll get hurt.

Second choice would be a section whip (I think that's what teekc meant) - they'd be mad weapons to have.

My chief weapon would be surprise - surprise and fear...

My two chief weapons would be fear and surprise - and ruthless efficiency....

My three chief weapons would be fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency - and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope....

    (Damn)

Amongst my chief weapons are such elements as fear, surprise, ruthless efficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope....

    And a comfy chair.

I think that Splunge has the right idea...

But anyhow, a nice shortsword and dirk would be nice, or rapier and dirk. Failing that, bastard swords are rather funky, though very large...
