I would have been called Mathilde iso Thijs.

Faragon, did you by chance create this new topic after you read my last post in the Matthew-thread?

FYI: Mathilde and Matthew/Matthijs are similar names. The intelligent people among you would have thought as much. The lesser probably too, I hope...

No Master, not at all. Whatever gave you that idea? My threads come out of my own inspiration!

I think the name would stay the same, but in the female form. That is, Alexandra(the male form is Alexandros---Alexander in English).

In Greece(and in every Orthodox country I quess) the parents name the child after an Orthodox saint.

They also name the child after the grandpa, but because I don't have a grandpa named Alexander I have two names. Theologos(meaning speech of God)is my middle name. (Having two names in Greece is very strange.)

Raewyn is sure a great name, I loved that :)

Anyways, if I were a girl, I would have been called Mari or something I think...

Evidently I would have been called Kaija. My parents almost named me something strange as it is, but thought I might be made fun of. So I was called Erik.

I'd have been Randy Rae if I'd been unfortunate enough to have been born female. Not that I have anything against females, I like many of them quite a bit, I'm just glad not to have been saddled with that name.

    Josephine they tell me.

Allegedly before I was born the bump that was I was affectionally called Josephine by my parents.

Perhaps they were just teasing me, who knows.

I was named after my mother's maiden name, Daniel, so I guess I would have been called Danielle.

@Mat: You're self-reported as being tall, blond, having dimples, and frequently wearing designer suits. So when you ask
all I can say is, don't go there, sugar! ;)

My Mum literally can't remember. However, I was going to be called Tobias, and then Malcom. I scored Callum instead. My Mum is fascinated with scottish heritage. My brother's name is Lauchlan, and my little brother is Magnus. She made up my little sister's name.

Apparently, the only name they thought of was Kimberley. Of course, they were found of that name, so that was the alternative for both my brothers, and the name that actually was given to my sister.

My father's side of the family was adamant that I would turn out to be the first male child of this generation. So only boys names were discussed. Thankgod my maternal gramps was able to quash most of them or I would have end up with a typical name like Veerabhadraswami or Subbramanyamaiiyapaswami.
    Try pronouncing them.
