'kay, after enough spins, some Pigface is starting to sink in... Not a million miles away from Ministry, but different. Nutopia (Looptopia Remix) is an odd track, but strangely addictive.

Speaking of Ministry, XMMS stumbled upon "Corrosion", and I listened to the entire song (I was busy doing... something else), and sick track, no doubt about it. No vocals from Jourgensen, but a very enjoyable track through and through. I'm starting to like Psalm 69 a lot, but The Land of Rape and Honey is hard to move from the top...

With all this talk of Ministry, I started to listen to it again. I dunno which I like most between Land of rape and honey and The mind is a terrible thing to taste. They both have very good songs...

And a couple of posts before, I realized I was referring to Breathe, not Thieves. Doesn't the chorus sound like the chorus in the Soft Parade song by the Doors?

Stopped by my friend's place some time ago -- the one who lended me the Ministry albums -- and as we had a blunt, the discs automatically switched over, and the next one happened to be Godhead. Those guys sound like a cross of Nine Inch Nails' industrial side and Marilyn Manson's more metal side... an unholy alliance that sounds wicked.

Godflesh is also pretty darn solid. Grindcore fans will remember Napalm Death, which was famous because not one or two, but three former members went on to form highly influential and succesful bands -- Bill Steer founded Carcass, Lee Dorian founded Cathedral, and Justin Broadrick former Godflesh. I got Streetcleaner, widely acknowledged as the band's best, but I also got Hymns, the final studio album, and it's absolutely wickedly good. I can think of many things I'd do when listening to this wickedly good stuff.

Skrew is pretty good too. Listening to Burning in Water, Drowning in flame, and I like what I hear.

    /raised thread from the dead

One of my favorite metal sites -- basically an encyclopedia of metal bands, not just DM/BM -- has a Industrial section, and I found a couple of interesting, rather obscure industrial bands. One of those is Sielwolf, I had some serious trouble finding some, but I finally got a hold of some, and daaaamn, this stuff is GREAT. It's got faint Ministry influences, but this is barren, cold, industrial, and I absolutely DIG it. There is something about the atmosphere, the sound that makes it the perfect companion to enjoying nature... the Symptom of the Universe-esque riff On Neue Fleisch also cracked me up.

Then there's Testify, which I hear is supposed to be a sort of second coming of the old Ministry sound. Haven't been able to get on my hands on some, though if it's indeed akin to the old Ministry sound, I'm all for it. The newer Ministry albums were good, don't get me wrong, but The Land of Rape and Honey, Psalm 69 and all the good ol' classics that is just timeless.

Alright, there are tracks missing, but I got my hands on some Testify, and I definitively hear the Ministry sound, but what I've heard of Testify, they're more varied than Ministry. Testify has good metallic riffs, and so far, I like what I am hearing. I wouldn't call them the second coming of Ministry yet, but that might change when I get my hands on the albums. Time to pay a visit to a music store, methinks.

Also, just for the sake of curiosity, I listened to some Front 242, and while it's DEFINITIVELY not to my liking, I was mildly amused by Welcome to Paradise 1.0.

I'm also taking a liking to Skrew's second album, Dusted. It's different than BIWDIF, but it has some gems too. Skrew Saves, Jesus Skrew Superstar, Picasso Trigger, Albatross (wacky title, great track). If only those guys could return to their BIWDIF roots, I'd mark as crazy for an album that has the sound that made Burning in Water Drowning in Flames an instant classic.

*EDIT* I *definitively* like Testify. I'm starting to understand why those guys were hailed as the second coming of Ministry. I spent the evening having "A.N.G.E.R" stuck in my head, overlaid with "Suck This", both KICKASS tracks.
