A plague on both your houses! Is that it? Let them burn, children, women the lot! It's their own bloody fault, they're savages anyway so let them rot. It's nothing to do with us. People like that do not deserve any better. Why should I move my fat butt to help 'those people' - fighting is in their blood.

Yes, I heard all those before but I seriously hope that this isn't the dominant opinion...

 

Yes, Z-Layrex, you are partly right. But you forget one very important thing: the oil. If there will be a great war, then US and the whole western world must forget about the oil in the area. They (or us) cannot let it happen.

 

I cannot believe this! I dislike the US government as much as anybody and do tend to think that they act out of purely pragmatic and selfish reasons. But if the net result is STOPPING A WAR than I am all for it!

 

We get very little, if any, oil from Israel.

 

Well, what if an all out war broke between Israel and the Arabs as has happened before. Surely that won't be allowed. But small scale wars around the globe I'm sure are encouraged. For they are, after all economy savers for the big players.

 

I doubt there'll be any all-out war. Too many Arab governments need the U.S. in order to ensure that they remain prosperous and in power. The only one likely to take up arms is Iraq. Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia would simply not dare to enter the fray in any obvious manner -- not that they wouldn't support it in official statements.
