    Dutch television does it again...
Tonight at two different stations at the same time The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable...
I'm still in doubt which one to see

@Baldrak - Unbreakable is superior by far IMO

@Sir Bel - I THINK I've seen Ran on World Movies channel on PayTV here, a little long but very good indeed.

Also recently saw The Duel (Hong Kong film, starring IIRC Andy Lau) which is also very cool. Also got X-Men 2 on video and it's still as enjoyable as when I saw it at the cinema.

Time for a little revival! Yesterday I saw Savior by Oliver Stone. I've seen it before, but every time it leaves me in a very strange mood. This is a movie that really makes me think about it afterwards. Anyone know any other movie that does the same?

A Clockwork Orange definately makes you think afterwards. One of the most disturbing and impressive movies I have seen...

If you are a true movie-go-er, you will need Akira Kurusawa's movies to back you up in your watched movies resume.

Ran is a few color (no pun, nothing, just color) movies by Kurusawa. What makes it so special is, naturally, its colors. Vivid is the only underrated word i can find to describe this movie (i think this movie won the Acedemy's best costume). Since almost everyone knew the story, there is hardly any surprise element here. The take home message for a movie student is the amazing skill Kurusawa displayed on managing the various scenes of this movie.

There is a Hong Kong movie called "wu jian dao" (infernal affairs) that stired lots of interests back to Hong Kong movies within chinese speaking circle (singapore, malaysia, hong kong, republic china and people's republic china). This epcial movie was so successful that it motivated the producers to make two other sequals (like the Matrix series). One of the sequals was released recently. Rumors that Brad Pitt has bought the story and wanted to do a Hollywood version of it.

The story outline is simple, one from local underground society was sent to police force as a mole and one from police force was sent to underground as a mole. As you can see, this is a typical men's movie, women in the movie are somewhat just decorations. The psychological fight was intense. Therefore, it requires some exceptional acting skills. It is rare that one can see so many past Hong Kong Golden Statue Award best actors in the same movie, showing off their skills.

Akira Kurosawa'a Dreams is very good as well, a little weird at first but quite enjoyable. And the ONLY movie to ever shock me with a twist ending and leave me open-mouthed with surprise was the Michael Douglas film "The Game". I NEVER saw that ending coming.

Also recently saw Casablanca on the big screen - now that was heaven!
