Another cool thing that you finds out when you charms somenone:

When you returns from Candlekeep to Baldur's Gate, Charm one of the guards that attacks you, he have som useful info.

 

Actually, the mod Tortured Souls takes care of Yoshimo's past. Unfinished Business takes care of Valygar and Suna Seni.

I enjoyed this option very much and many times in BG1, too bad that practically they left it from BGII
Some examples:
If you do not want to go through the dialog for 900xp, you can charm Marl. He will tell you the story of his son (in few sentences) IIRC.
You can charm any Flaming Fist soldiers, however, they will say the same usually. In Chapter 7, in the city of BG, they provide some information about the situation.
There is a very effective way for thieves to steal from places where other people would notice the theft. Charm the people, and they will not cause trouble. You can get a whole fortune if you seek the Duchal Palace before the inauguration of Sarevok and battle
There are more (and even better) charm possibilities with NPCs, but since I have not played BG for a considerable time, I cannot recall more at the moment.

 

Another oddity you may find when charming people is that they'll occasionally say they're giving you something, be it a "family heirloom" or "a prized possession" they want you to "hold on to" , or just a token for their "best friend" , yet you never get anything from it. There's no message saying that the party "gained an item", and nothing ever shows up in your inventory, even when they want to give you some gold. Anyone know if you're supposed to get something from them, and the item's not being accessed, or if they're just lying?

 

IIRC, a noble will give you 1000000 gold pieces if you charmed her (I don't remember her name though)

 

if you charm the assassin Nimbul sent, a very funny piece of dialogue is obtained. The assassin tells you a story and then attacks you. He fully realizes he's charmed.
