They've most likely spelled it kensai because it's also spelled like that in the AD&D source material. Source material misspellings usually carry over into RPGs. So there's really no point in "correcting" it in the game alone.

Classic. Nonetheless, this is some excellent research.

I think the difference in name is justified, as a kensei is just the name used for an extremely skilled warrior in Japanese lore, while the D&D Kensai is actually an avenue of training, and not an achieved title.
And by "hours of searching", I imagine you mean "typed Kensai into a Wikipedia search".

I had a feeling it was oriental. Because I've never seen Kensei OR Kensai in any of the dozen supplements I have, but I never bothered to get Oriental Adventures. That said, it would be a disservice to the kit to name it wrong, but I imagine so many people are used to calling it Kensai after so many years of playing BG2 that I doubt it will/should be changed. Meh.

It is in dialog.tlk, so correcting it is easy as pie. I don't know how it is done with WeiDU, as I don't know WeiDU too well, but it would need no more than a few minutes to write a C++ (or any other) program that fixes it.
