New - seeming as most people came with Tal, parents may well have been left behind.

And is anyone apart from Octara being a person who creates the things needed?

And what is the Ultama stone?

 

I made it up. It sounds cool, though. It has some legend that it has immense magic, but I wanted to piss people off (Including my character) so It has no powers.

 

Come my friends! Let's go find a completely useless stone!

and on the ABC thing, they aren't the only ways to cast a spell.

Umm, was that sarcasm?

No one except the NPC that happens to be overseas in some tower on some deserted island(Lina) Knows it's a peice of worthless junk.

 

No, I knew this person who specialised in collecting the useles items in games. He used to be sarcastic and funny in it, I was wondering if your character knew it was worthless, but evidently not.

 

I came up with this ending to the quest, if New ever made it back to Lina.

"Here," New said, brused and battered. "Here's that ultama stone you wanted." New looked exhausted. He had apparently gone through hell to get this stone.

Lina Inverse, New's teacher, grinned, and took it. "Thanks. Good Job." Lina then walked to a big pile of tresure chests and jewels, and proceeded to throw it in there. "Thanks."

New stared. "Well, what's it's power?" New asked, incredbly hyped.

Lina plopped on her couch and used magic to pop an apple into her hand. "It's worthless. Just sent you to get it for kicks." Lina looked at New. "Want an apple?"

New was in no condition to eat an apple.

 

hmm. Quests would be interesting I suppose. Globals perhaps...

I want another character... I suppose I'll wait until one of my other dies though, don't want too many, I'll end up like my online game - 18 characters

I've got a party on IWD2 of people I'd like, I'll wait though... I'm good at waiting...

 

I think what we should do involving NPCs is a mixture DM control and generic (I'm taking a wild guess at what this is by the way, so don't please don't slit my throut if I'm wrong). This way PCs are more free but the DMs can still control things if they get out of hand.

Lets say if PC W says that NPC X is going to walk down to the shops, but at the same time PC Y says that NPC X is going to clean the windows, then DM Z can step in and say "No, NPC X is going to break both of your necks," or something like that.

well I think most NPCs would just be there, and you could kill them or give them things or whatever. but if you kill them then a guard will come, something like that. DMs should just monitor what the NPCs are doing and having done to them... while a couple can actually be interacted with, talked to, etc.

Sometimes I think this would be easier if it was a MUD.

Right, for NPC's.
A player would request that a certain NPC be bought into the game. The DM's will look over it and either agree of disagree. Each NPC must have a complete biography and history, as well as personality and other such things.
A single player cannot control two NPC's which are interacting with each other, either another player or a DM must come in then and post for the NPC which is not been controled by player 1.
Only those players which need to know everything about an NPC will, and they must request such knowledge from a DM.

Any ideas for improving this?

 

How about we have NPCs around the place but to interact with one you need to do what you said above?

 

A MUD is a Multi-user-Dungeon, like Wolfenburg ( a warhammer site), or Runescape I suppose.

 

One MUD I play has now changed into an Internet Entertainment Network

Octara's eq:
An Octarine Staff - does magical damage.
Chain of elements - so she can cast some spells (weather spells and such)
and that's it.

 

As I think that I was officially announced as a Moderator on the new forum(which we are all waiting to get up) I am going to post a couple of (N)PC's that are going to be used frequently because we will need them:

Amendar - An experienced warrior that is the law together with four other guards; Jimmy, Timmy, Vinny and Ricky. They are trying to uphold a small piece of laws on the islands and are well known for making people obey the laws.

Ruskel - The mob. He is the one that is burning Drow, killing of heretics and slays Tieflings. Mostly he had a group of followers with him, but they were killed in the war as soilders so now he employs new members of his "doing for greater good." Sometimes he hires Amendar and his friends to carry out the "goodness" on the streets.

Samzo - A rich merchant that deals in information, magical goods, food and trinkets. He is also a top politican that enforces laws under Taluntain's name. He seems strong and prosperous but is actually very weak and cowardly. He survived the war only because he is smart, charismatic, rich and because he hide himself in his shop's basement during the whole war.

Yep, and I don't see how these can be treated wrong. They are all so stereotypic and simple that most people, including me, simply can't fail with roleplaying these characters.

And yes, I'm alive.

 

Velve, you'd be surprised at how much people can screw up.
I'm thinking of making a bunch of NPC's based on SP people, such as Padeen and whatnot.
