First, I'd like to thank Grey and Morgoroth for their thoughtful posts. After reading's Chev's deceptive reply I had temporarily lost faith in the board.

Of course my post was a lousy argument for why a fetus isn't human... mainly because that wasn't what I was arguing or even implying.

Yes a fetus is a member of the species Homo sapiens . But, honestly, why does this matter? This is the key point that you have failed to properly address.

My argument is that it is immoral to kill a being with a conscience.

Your argument is that it is immoral to kill a particular species of animal.

The problem with your conclusion is that you have failed to create a criterion on WHY this particular species should not be killed. As of now, the essence of your argument is that a human should not be killed by virtue of having a particular sequence of adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine nucleotides. That's pretty weak support for your argument in my opinion.

I normally don't get involved in this type of arguement although I find reading them interesting. I have a couple of questions.

    1) When does the fetus gain humanity?
    2) Is a new born baby any more self-aware than a pig?
