I love pool (8 & 9-ball) and snooker! I play as often as I can afford to go to my local snooker club. I would class myself as a pretty good pool player but a mediocre snooker player...

[IMG] Just wondering, does anybody in SP play or has played "Killers"? :hmm:

Essentially, its played by three people, and uses all 15 balls. Person A owns balls 1 to 5, Person B owns balls 6 to 10, and Person C owns balls 11 to 15.

The object of the game is to "kill off" your opponents by pocketing the balls they own while protecting yours. As long as you have a ball on the table, you're alive. :borg:

The variant is 5 people owning 3 balls each.

Oh, and a scratch causes everyone to return a pocketed ball to the table, while you lose yours. Aside from that, all shots are legal, even if you mistakenly pocket your own balls. :)

    Well? :hmm: :1eye:

We play "killer" a different way:

Any number of players with 3 lives each. Take it in turn to go. You have to pot a ball, or lose a life. After the final ball of a rack is potted, simple, you just rack'em up again. Last life = winner.

The only exception is that when you break, you get one more shot if you do not get one down off the first shot.

Good fun in a packed pub with 2 quid to go! Paid for quite a few Chinese take-aways on the way home.

And you are allowed to sink all balls? And you sink one ball and then the other is again? Then the game would end quick for when you can play a bit position with white you should be able to give your opponent impossible balls....

    Yes and no.

Any ball is legal, but with say 10 balls on the table it's hard to leave no shot at all.

Also of course you don't get to chose what you're left with when it's your turn, so a lot of the time it's too hard to get a pot to worry about what you leave for the next player.

I don't know what size tables you play on, but the standard UK 7/4 or 6/3 with small pockets can get quite tricky at times.

We have two sizes of tables, a small one wich sucks and a normal one, it has the official size for pool tables, same size as they use on all tournaments.

The world 8-ball championship when it was played over here (UK) last year, they did use the UK style table, small pockets and red/yellow object balls. So I think the size depends a little on where the tournament is played.

I think American is 8 by 4 or even 9 by 5, with pockets like buckets. Esp 9 ball tables. Hit the cushion over a foot away from the pocket and still drop in? Hmmmm.
