Lichdom: For you?

The difference Marnix ís that one is a guaranteed fact, the other is a belief. If you dont believe in the eternal life granted by god you dont expect it. In that case lichdom is a nice thing, and you know for sure whatcha gonna get. Wouldnt it be a pain if you die and find out that there were no eternal life for you? I atleast would think that sucked.

 

I am already a lich.

It's nice. The hours are good.

Every once in a while you have to cast a spell or two to keep do-gooders away, but for the most part the minions (I've chosen "hordes of zombies," but you can switch whenever the mood strikes you.) take care of the daily grind.

Probably the best part is the undead raven familiar. He does tricks like "regurgitate the sparrow." Oh, and he sings a bit too. I'm not sure why, but he's a tenor.

I've thought about joining the trend among the other liches in creating some ultra-powerful magical item that would help me rule the living as well as my undead minions, but that would no doubt cause some halfling to kill my raven or some other annoying trifle like that. So instead I just sit here and catch up on my reading.

The only annoying part is when the Mormons show up. But then I just start talking in Infernal and pretend like I don't understand their Common tongue.

 

I wouldn't want to be a lich, I would prefer to run around annoying the liches instead by killing their undead ravens with my super halfling skill.

 

Well, I'm an atheist. I don't believe in eternal life in heaven or the grace of a god. Sorry people.

BUT! I wouldn't do lichdom either. If there was some other way to extend your life (I probably wouldn't mind some sort of genetic technology that would do that), I'd definitely go in for it. However, to become something totally evil just to satisfy curiosity about the future...no, that I would not do.

Anyways, life AFTER death, as a corpse, does not appeal to me. What kind of senses and experiences does it offer? None whatsoever. I don't want to be a rotting, smelly skeleton.

Besides, although the thought of longevity is certainly appealing (I want to live to be 500! 1,000! Yeah baby!) I wouldn't want to be IMMORTAL. That's altogether too much to see, too much to take in. I wouldn't do it.

 

Word up Tiamat! I dont mind the evil and all that, its lack of a body to satisfy that makes me think twice about lichdom. As I said before, what use is eternal life and power if you cant enjoy it? No vast chambers of nifty little women that exist to please just you, no great banquets with every food imaginable etc etc.
I put my faith to genetics as Tiamat does, and that is not purely a fantasy like lichdom either
No I just need to find a way to gain great power so I can REALLY enjoy my prolonged life

 

Actually, the best part about being a lich is being able to smite people who don't believe in God. As a lich, the only ones you truly have to worry about (other than halflings that look like monkey butts) are the righteous. You should see the look on the faces of the unbelievers when evil looks them in the eye. The second when they realize "Oh my! If there is spiritual evil there must be spiritual good" is priceless. Seriously. I carry around a Polaroid for just those occasions. You should see my scrapbook.

I would love to see that scrapbook ... in fact, maybe we can team up. You can help people realize their deep spiritual need, I can convert them to Christianity, then you can devoure their souls. Sounds like a win-win situation!

 

I wouldn't want to be a lich. I think I would rather be a halfling that looks like a monkey butt.

 

I would never be a lich for a couple of reasons.

Would have to keep doing my income tax each year for eternity.

Would never be able to quit my day job.

I don't think it's evil liches we need to be careful of, more like evil smelly bards/sorcerers with evil smelly ravens!

I find the notion of being eternally alive and incredibly sensual, like most vampires are portrayed, to be intriguing. Sure, for a while you have fun going around and indulging your newfound senses, but after the first hundred years what do you? This is what the LeStat Chronicles (ok, so I've only read half of the first one) do so well.

I might have to write my own vampire movie. But first I need to do research. Who wants to bite Extremist's neck?

 

No way would I want to be a lich. It's not the whole "eternal life" issue that bothers me, it's the "wrongness" of it. Undeath would be a curse...no friends, no family, no love. Sucky stuff. Now, eternal life as an elf (JRR Tolkien's types of elves) would be cool. Living forever in a good body, being able to feel and share emotions normally and not having to do anything to become immortal.

 

Not a lich...but a vampire would be nice...
Or maybe I would rather offer my soul to a powerful demon lord so that I can have eternal life as his agent on the mortal world.
Either way, I get to kick paladin and celestial a$$, which is cool...

A lich paying income task or having a day job? What were you smoking? I doubt anyone who actually is a would pay taxes, not to mention having a job. Just imagine walking into your local hamburger bar, where a skeleton wrapped in dirty clothing asks what you'd like to eat today.
