BG2 Kensai + Cloak of the Sewers + Ring of Protection+2 + Ring of Earth Elemental Control + Shield Amulet (Nalia's Keep) = as good as it gets in SOA, which is actually pretty good. Get boots of speed too if you're concerned about getting hit often.

Don't bother starting over in BG1 unless you decide to multiclass, which would prevent you from using the kensai kit in SOA (without using an editor).

Even with SK, you cannot have two kits at the same time. You can use Kensai/Thief or Fighter/Swashbuckler, but not Kensai/Swashbuckler!!!

Sorry for waking the topic up but its an interisting topic.
You can have 2 kits if you dual, you start out with say kensai, dual to thief and then change your kit with shadow keeper.

^Are you sure? Have you tried this? How does it work?

Will your class named as 'kensai/swashbuckler' for example? I didiN't think it was possible!

So you choose a thief kit via SK, you will lose your fighter kit's name, BUT still retain kensai bonuses and restrictions, as they are coded into your character. Most interesting indeed. You will still be named as a fighter/swashbuckler, BUT have kensai abilities and bonuses? Ooh I am so excited!

Why didn't we think about it before?

Can someone confirm this? It will open a new era for power-gamers if it is indeed true!

Actually...that'll work. And even better than you'd imagine. You'll get to keep the kensai bonuses like the extra damage, AC, kai ability, and so forth, but the main restrictions on armor and such are linked directly to having the kit IIRC (like an opposition school for specialist mages). So you'd have all of the bonuses and none of the restrictions once you switched. That's not just power-gaming or even cheesing, that's outright cheating. :nono:

Umm, so bonuses will still remain as they are coded to the character's file, BUT disadvantages will be gone, such as wearing armor.

But, if a player still acts as if armor and bracelet and helmet banned, thus NOT equipping them, it won'T be a problem, and it will finally be possible to be a Kensai/Swashbuckler, sorta, thugh once you get UAI HLA, kensai restrictions will be no problem. Heh, nice idea indeed! :thumb:

The armor disadvantage disappears as soon as the Kensai dual classes. The Kensai/thief can wear any item a thief can use. The only thing he really can't wear is bracers, which won't be a big deal after UAI.

Heh, and while you're at it in ShadowKeeper, why not create a new item for the character - the Katana of CTRL-Y?

Seriously, a high-DEX Kensai is pretty much what I thought this thread was about. The whole idea about being a lightly armoured fighter is that you are better able to maneuver and strike, but one good hit will do a lot of damage.
