I think Im getting diabetic just reading this thread

 

Well, my first few bits of stuff came today. I had a Reese's Cookies and Cream bar, which was awful, and a bowl of Lucky Charms... they were OK, but FAR too sugary. Aren't kids meant to eat that stuff? I have a couple of Baby Ruth, some Peanut Butter M n M's and some Big Red gum. I'll try and spread them out a bit, otherwise I might get a sugar rush!

 

Ive tried American candy before I hate it, my wife, who is a choccoholic cant stand the stuff, all Im after is some decent BBQ sauce

 

To be fair Harbourboy, we are talking about foods that can be shipped at room temperature, which does pretty much limit it to junk food... LOL

Had I know folks were looking for good BBQ sauce, I've bought some bottles from a hole0in-the-wall place in Silver Springs FL called Roger's. amazing BBQ, but it's shutting down at the end of July I sniffled when the cashier told me.
Sonny's is another local restaurant with pretty good BBQ sauce, and I can get hold of that. Just not sure what food shipping rules are...
We'll need to find someone here from the Carolinas to send over Carolina style BBQ sauce, which I believe is mustard based rather than tomato based...
Still, for BBQ, you can make some pretty good ones that will be very American in style from common ingredients... Here's a good place to start.

I agree with Barmy's results. Most of that mass-produced American stuff from Reese's or Hershey's or similar brands are virtually inedible and barely recognisable as the things they are supposed to be made of (e.g. real chocolate, where are you?)

If you're going to order sweet treats from overseas, you'd be better getting your chocolates from Belgium, or better still, why not just have some of your own Green & Blacks? Now that's more like proper chocolate.

I just noticed that the site sells Stubb's marinade. I love the stuff for lazy days when I don't feel like bothering with mixing my own marinade for meats. They're pretty good without being so high in sodium like so many other American products.
Oh and if you do decide to get grits, do not forget the salt. You don't need much, but grits without salt is just nasty. Trust me on that one. Most of the other breakfast foods they sell on that site are sugar bombs that I won't touch (I make occasional exceptions for Froot Loops; it's a nostalgia thing)
Old Bay seasoning is pretty good too, especially for a shrimp boil.
There's a few other items sold on that site I use, I'll post more later.

 

Oreos are good-surprised if you don't have those already.

I still like Oreo (ground)-Blueberry Shakes.


Western dressing is pretty good IMO.





I think the US has better Bratwurst than Austria. I have tried both and I would recommend Johnsonville or Usinger's. Though one of the pluses is that I was raised on Brats that had been nuked in beer prior to grilling (which is not really necessary as the nuking has more than enough heat).

Save some of the beer/brat juice mix and use it to nuke some onions and/or green/red peppers to put on your brat.

I recommend A&W Rootbeer for a soda. I have local varieties to pick from that include Sprecher's but you are more likely to have the mainstream stuff available to you.
