    Oh for crying out loud.

    One of the main characters, a saloon owner, talks to the box (with the severed head of an Indian in it) in several episodes of this HBO show, in effect doing exposition speeches.

    Can't say that I have ever watched it but I have seen the commercials where they were blabbing on about it being an HBO original series so I guessed based upon that.

    Long before he did the voice of Megatron in the original Transformers cartoons, Frank Welker provided the voice for a highly controversial (at least among the geek population) robot character in this show.

    He's been a cartoon staple for four decades -- one of his earlier gigs was as Freddy on Scooby-Doo. His voice seems everywhere -- so I'll start with the old Scooby spin off ... Dynomutt.

    Yeah randomly guessing from Frank Welker's nearly 550 credits would be like looking for a needle in a hay stack.

    It isn't Dynomutt.

    There are a bunch of absurd rumours as to why the robot character was included in the show. My favourites being that they either didn't want children to emulate the character that was replaced or that they wanted to cash in on the popularity of the Star Wars droids. The actual reason was that the licensing rights to the character that was replaced by the robot were unavailable at that time.

    Edit: The robot supposedly made a cameo appearance in the extended version of a film based upon the same source material. I have not seen the extended version so I can't confirm this.

    Also, subsequent to appearing in the tv show, the robot actually appeared in the source material. The robots creator in the source material admitted that he was copying the design from the t.v. show. The character who was replaced by the robot claimed that his replacement in the show was the result of him being out of town when the contract for the t.v. deal was signed.

    No it isn't the Jetsons. I am pretty sure that Welker did the voice of their alien pet on the Jetsons.

    Sigh, I guess no one else remembers poor H.E.R.B.I.E. the Robot.

    I guess another clue is needed. To expand upon the rumoured reasons for the robot's inclusion in the show, people have claimed that the network was worried that children would light themselves on fire trying to emulate the character whom the robot replaced.
