    This show has two links to the Simpsons:
    1) It shows a feature of human life that the Simpson has virtually never done (other than in dream sequences)
    2) It features a character with a voice almost identical to one of the Simpsons.

    More clues: this is a sequel / spinoff to an older series. I think that someone Icewind Dale related was also involved in something on this series.

    Sorry for the delay. I have been travelling. Just arrived in London. The previous one was "All Grown Up", the sequel / spinoff of "Rugrats", both of which include the voice talents of Kathy Soucie, who is also in IceWind Dale II. Because of my lack of response to my previous one, I will not give an answer to Kuemper's softball and let someone else take it.

    Well, the "Never fear, Smith is here" and the "lost" hint sounds like Lost In Space, But I don't grok the southwest safe hint. Maybe a previous show for the actor who played Smith?

    The hints were random. The Smith character was not the character of the first hint. The first hint was directed at Guy Williams -- Professor John Robinson in Lost in Space. Before he joined the Lost in Space Cast, he was Don Diego de la Vega ... Zorro.
