Not to start an argument or anything.
But, Mathetais, did you know that there was a *HUGE* error in the english translation of the bible? A friend of mine (who is studying too become a priest, and who read the two Testaments in the original language (hebrew and greek, respectively)) And she has told me that Jesus walkd *BY* the water, and not *ON* the water, as it says in our translation. Perhaps a mixup of two words.

Oh and BTW: I don't make newyears resolutions. Either I forget them, or I feel guilty about not keeping them.

Firestorm ... I've actually studied both Greek and Hebrew, as well as Text Criticism. There are one or two fragments that have the article "by" instead of "on" the water, however, those are not from the oldest or most reliable text. More than likely, they are from 2nd century people who were trying to normalize the faith.

(Personally, I couldn't get passed the first 30 pages. I mean really, the history of birth lineage since Adam?)

My new years resolution is to try and do all the things I would have put on my past new years resolutions had I made any in the first place!

Math, the miracle exists within the coincidences! That to me seems much more miraculous than a God/man somewhere defining what will be. (And it usually is a God/man)

BTW is it true? you have the same list???

Gee, Nobleman went digging through pretty old archives! My only New Years resolution was to finish this God forsaken 3-D boat puzzle! Sure, the puzzle I did in about an hour, but the mast is impossible! Now, I hate the Santa Maria and everything associated with it.

/me spits on the grave of Christopher Colombus

    Sorry if that offended you.

[IMG] Reepnorp. I wanted to hear if people's New year Resolutions had come true, THIS year. NOT what their new ones are. Thats why I went to the archives. For some evidence :1eye: Ivaji kinda misunderstood.

Please people. It's way to early for next years Resolutions. Mathetais will make a thread in due time. Patience. Patience.

Only resolution that have held are the ones about losing a tiny bit of weight and becoming slightly less antisocial. Otherwise... well, lessee... Currently I am institutionalized. MY skipping class reaxched new phenomeal levels. Schoolwork? I sucĀ“k in it. I tuest people less than a paranoid anroid. Even less than before. (Present company excluded, of course... SP folk are the best people on this planet!) I haven't assaulted anyone physically, but I did have to DEFEND myself against that one bastard GH worker who claims that I assaulted him... Ha, I mean, the guy's bigger than I am. tries to throw me into a ditch, kicks me for whatever's sake, in fron't of a witness, and then says I assaulted him? Ha, I wish!

Nope, didn't really hold that well....

Every year we say our resolutions and every year we break them (don't deny it ;) )

And I guess that's the fun isn't it?

    So here are mine.

    1. Earn some money and not spend it way to quick.

    2. All this bible talk made me think.........I'm going to read the thing to ----> You were talking about the Lord of the Rings right  :D

Actually I never read the bible and am certain I will never read it in this lifetime, the only 'line' I know is the one Samual L. Jackson says in Pulp Fiction ;)

[IMG] Another person to post new resolutions for next year in this topic will find themselves short of 50 posts. It was stated plainly enough that this thread was resurrected to comment on how true your last year's resolutions have become. NOT to post resolutions for 2003. If you want to do that, start a new topic.

    Some of you are :yot:
*Sigh* I had really not thought of it as a problem. It seems that reading the dates and other posts, before answering, is thrown into oblivion :shake: . Please Don't sacrilege Our Holy Man's thread of wisdom anymore. Sorry math.

    ON TOPPIC.
As Arabwel, I haven't really been as focussed as I wanted. I actually don't remember what my resolutions were. *sigh*
But Who cares, when we have an excellent online life? Just as long as we keep our bodies alive, our minds live on the net... (Psst. Matrix :1eye: )

    back on topic ...

    Here's how I did...

    In 2002 I resolved to...

    1. ...put my relationship with God first, finding more time for prayer and Bible reading. (I was down to 2 min/month )

Result: I've read the bible on the train/bus to and from work pretty faithfully. For the first time in a long while, its taking on new meaning for me and concepts are leaping off the page. The God thing is really getting much better ... believe it or not, I had a huge crisis of faith at the end of 2001.

    2. ... devote myself to my family with more vigor. ('nuff said)

Result: Things are still rocky with the wife, but my daughter is wonderful and she & I spent tons of time together. She's an angel.

    3. ... develop healthier eating habits. (I'm exchanging Organic for Big Mac's)

Result: This one went real well. Organic meat and produce abounded, McDonald's stock went down.

    4. ... perpetuate a higher level of Spam on Sorcerer's Place and become the Cleric of Legends

Result: I'll leave the decision on this one to you all ...

    5. ... take my job to the next level. (I'll tell you want that means when I figure it out!!!)

Result: My job in Jan 2002 was with Worldcom, they went Ch. 11, stole over $100K from me, and fired all my co-workers. I've started a new job at Sprint, in 3 months I'm already #1 in the region, and things look good. I'd say, task complete with an A+.

All in all, 2002 was painful (see #5) but not impossible. Probably the worse economic year of my life, but not the worse relationally (both with God and family)

on a side note ... I don't remember posting the same list in Jan 2001 ... not sure if I was even a member then!

[IMG] I don't usually make any but I generally come up with targets through the year as I go along. Perhaps if I made an ywthey would be

    1) Be nicer to people and less violent.
    2) Learn to speak Drow better.
    3) Learn a bit of dutch and Japanese.
    4) Complete a proper mod for BG2 with quests and the all the bizwacky.
    5) Save up enough money for a Zip card, and maybe a shiny new computer! Of course... keeping Esion and Odessy
    6) Learn to draw better so people stop making fun of me.
