Defender of Easthaven, Spectral Brand, Angurvadal and the Runehammer are all fine off-hand weapons. The Defender won't be hitting much either, so that probably isn't a good choice considering what you are trying to achieve. Of the other three, the Runehammer is likely the first to be upgraded and is arguably to best of the bunch.

    @ Silvershield:

The game has many fine axes.

1 extra attack at this level isn't that great anyway.

    @ Decados, I hardly use axes that's why :p

Actually, when they get upgraded is a good thing to take into consideration. The Runehammer is one of the few weapons that doesn't require entering WK, IIRC. Isn't the Rune found in the cabin outside of Sendai's Enclave?

Yes, the rune is with the drow woodcutter. Spectral Brand and Angurvadal require you to not only have gone into WK quite far, but to have got through most of Sendai's Enclave. If you delay WK a bit, then you can do it with the Runehammer in hand (well, off-hand anyway).

Actually, it will be with Runehammer in hand. I will have to do all of Yaga-Shura's lair to get the Runehammer, although that's not so bad, as that's where the necessary component for the Axe of the Unyielding +5 is as well. However, I can't possibly assemble the AotU +5 until I get to the level if Lum the Mad in WK. As such, it's more than likely that Runehammer will be by main hand weapon at that point. If I go that route, it pretty much settles it - I will dump all prof points from here on out into War Hammer, as Runehammer will be by mainhand weapon through a good chunk of ToB.
