    LKD: If you're right, then without Americans buying Canadian Oil, then the price would come down. Less money for Alberta, but lower prices for Canada...

    Gnarff, more likely the oil companies will find new markets for Alberta's oil, markets like China, India, Russia even. By doing that -- behaving like a free market entity or collection of entities -- I can guarantee that the US will paint us as commies and enemies for daring to trade with their competitors, even though they left us with little other choice. I have always believed that while we should try as hard as we can to maintain a good relationship with our enormous neighbour, we really should expand our circle of trading partners and export more to other countries instead of being the Americans' ***es.
