I'm new at nwn (and at computer games for that matter) so I've never really played multiplayer. I would like to try it though...and from what i've read here it seems pretty great! For now I'm having great fun in single player mode and I guess I'd suck at multiplayer because I lack the experience. Besides, I don't even know where to start. I would like to try a server that you guys know is alright... ALPHA I think was mentioned... (not that I know what that means) Can anyone take the time to maybe give me a few tips? Thanks in advance!

In addition to the possibilities of slow internet connection, the other major drag on load times with new areas tends to be video card capability. A weak video card can really slow down the rate at which you process all the graphical content.

However, what you really need to do is find more polite players to play with. I have broadband connection and a good (GeF4) video card, so I am almost always waiting at area transitions for my team mates to come through. That doesn't work if the monsters are *right there* when you come through, of course.
