In all seriousness, though, Gaear says I've changed in the last little while. Is this true? And if so, please describe the change.

 

Looking into my crystal ball, I 'feel' this one too. Some may be tempted to describe Silvery as the fun-loving, carefree sort, and she may be, but there is more ... MOAR! Underneath she is more complicated - unreached potentials, unrealized dreams, a grasp and a miss (this time around). Which is not to say she is not content with what she has, or that she won't still get whatever else she wants.

Or maybe I am just full of crap.

You're damn right about that -- I weighed myself this morning for the first time in months. 242 pounds, and only about 5 pounds of that is muscle. I need to hit the gym and turn this keg into a six-pack!

I would hardly call myself the happiest man on SP! It's just that, tired and grumpy as I may be sometimes, a lot of nice things have happened this year and I really can't complain. I do rather enjoy where I am in life right now - Universityin', and I think I'll miss it in years to come.

 

How come we're required to describe ourselves in one word, but you're allowed to use phrases when you go Dr. Phil on us?

 

Because I'm being smug, like I said above.

Seriously, the one word self-description exercise is the more useful thing, while Dr. Phil is so much blather, but it could be mildly entertaining. People often like to here themselves evaluated (a little bit anyway, as long as you don't go nutty), and a one-word evaluation of your one word description most likely wouldn't be very fun.

btw, no takers on LKD's analysis request besides Splunge? Shame shame ...

Okay, you asked for it ...

Not to put too fine a point on it LKD, you seem disillusioned. This has been since (surprise! ) around the time you got laid off. Before, you were fairly vigorous, involved, and hopeful. Not cheeky, but okay with the world. Now you are fairly vigorous, involved, and noticeably unhopeful. I won't dabble in too much psycho-babble and say that I think you're genuinely depressed, because I don't really know, but I hope you're not. And if you are, I hope you're doing something about it. From what I understand, people who suffer as such often think they have to do it privately, stoically, and without assistance. Unfortunately, we don't have much more reach here than to 'hope' things for one another.

The reason I think you're disillusioned is that many of your posts now carry a trace of some sort of fatalistic sensibility in them ("doesn't matter,' "wouldn't make any difference," etc. - those are not actual quotes). Not all are that way, and very recently you seem to have improved a bit. But in the old days you seemed to hold out a distinct hope for a brighter day, while now not so much.

That's not a very good place to be. You're well thought of here - even if some peope don't agree with your views on the penal system or don't like your take on the religious right or the atheistic left or god knows what else - so I think there's a lot of good will behind you, for whatever that's worth.

My final patronizing word of advice is this: life's crap always passes. (Heh, that sounds like something you'd read on a public restroom stall.) And lastly, I may also be utterly full of sh*t here, so feel free to point that out if I am.

 

Nope, not full of fecal matter at all. I suggest you quitting your job and making some $$$ with your diagnostic skills. I am depressed, miserable, pissed off, disillusioned, and generally cranky. I look at the world and what's going on and I wonder: WTF is the point of all this <snip>? I'll pull out of it -- I always do! But for now, I'm in a dark, angry place.

 

Hey, dark and angry can be good if that energy is put to good use. Write a dark and angry play or something. Don't wait until you feel better to write the dark and angry play, because by then you won't have the fuel to stoke that fire anymore and you'll hate yourself for letting your muse die on the vine.

Also I don't have any diagnostic skills ... you just have to pay attention to see what's going on. [shrug]

@Marceror and Ragusa - I don't know what "shazbot" means (but I have a feeling you're f***ing with me ), and procrastination doesn't sound like Ragusa at all.
