Oh, I wasn't that far yet. Better read on the 11th book (don't recall the name)

Good U requested it. Better would be his son turnes evil, goes to Menzo. and comes back to kill Drizzt. Misplace of thrust, ha! But this is way too off-topic...

Artemis is interesting especially when he comes back to his past town and sees the difference.

Drizzt having a son? Hmm, I wonder about the skin tone:
    1) (if drow are like the Salvatore illustrations, where he just looks tanned): Cappucino?
    2) (if drow are completely black): Dark Grey?
    3) (if drow are like Viconia): Light Blue?

    *mutters somethng inaudible*

Will never happen... ras said it himself...

    *ahem*

In my opinioon, Artemis' new equipment just balances all the uber-stuff Drizzt already has; for example, Drizzt wears armor and Artemis does not.

    *shakes head*

    *mutters* powergamer's wet dream *grumbles*

Artemis Entreri is Drizz't's pseudo-nemesis. He's an Assassin who has been likened to being the dark, soulless version of Drizz't. Whenver Drizz't and Artemis have a swordfight there is usually no proper resolution (e.g. they'll both fall down a hole at a critical moment in the fight) hence the debate in this thread.

Thankyou for the explanation, but where exactly does this pseudo-nemisis make place? Is he just a fictional mock-up?

Well, yes, he IS fictional, but then again, so is Drizz't. But you can read about Artemis Entreri in Forgotten Realms books like "Streams of Silver" (available for sale right here on SP!)

Yeah, this is when he's beginning to question whether or not he was right in trying to live a life devoid of compassion.

Artemis Entreri is a better fighter, but only because there is no depth to which he will not stoop to get what he feels he deserves. Drizzt is the better swordsman, but Entreri's ability to rig the game gives him an advantage. It's only Entreri over-reaching himself or an occurrence of dumb luck that trips him up.

The bad guy always has to be intrinsically stronger than the hero. Where would be the heroism of going up against someone who's not your match? There's some interesting insights into Entreri's character in "Realms of Infamy" as well - just a look into what made him who he is and why. It really foreshadows what he becomes later, and the level of skill, ruthlessness and lethality that Artemis possesses, extremely well (especially how he deals with his "mentor" in a thieves guild as a youngster).

    @ Slayer:
Where have you encountered Drizzt before if you think he rules? If you read a book Artemis must have been in it, I'm sure.
Has Mr. Do'Urden has any other appearances then? Maybe in the FR setting book?

However I'm starting to hate the facts he always perseveres because of his 'Warrior instincts' that arise once again... Terrible.

I'm pretty sure that Drizzt has novels without Artemis in them, but the only one that springs to mind right now is Sea of Swords. (or was he in that one as well? it's been a while..) Oh wait, he definitely doesn't come out in The Thousand Orcs or in The Lone Drow. Personally, I prefer to read about Artemis though. Servant of the Shard was awesome. I'd like to read a lot more about Jaraxle too. I just didn't much like the end bec. it made it seem as if these 2 ne'er-do-wells were becoming "anti-heroes". That would suck eggs.

    @Bion

The kid would be striped Bruenor said so.

anyhow I think that Drizzit is the better swordsman and Artemis is the better fighter.

Artemis makes no appearance in the Soujour Triplet or the first book of the Icewind dale Trilogy. Also the last three(I think) books only have vague mentionings of him.
