There is a huge difference between charity and sharing. Charity is to dull your own bad conscience and allow a few of the less fortunate keep their noses above water for a few more days while sharing enables them live a decent life and hopefully stand on their own as soon as possible.

With your definition on what works I would say that communism would work as well, it sure wouldnt be pretty and many would suffer but that seems to be the same case in your view of libertarianism. It might work if we all started out on square one but as we do not the point is moot.

I do not see taxation as that large a infringe ment on freedom there are others that I view as large or larger. Freedom to travel, freedom to organise yourself, freedom of speech from my little knowledge many of those freedoms are often greater in many high tax societies than they are in lower tax ones with a more libertarian structure. 'Selfimposed' restrictions are as restrictive on freedom as govermental resctrictions.

[IMG] Joacqin, please clarify that last statement. How can self-imposed restrictions possibly be seen as an infringement on your freedom?

To clarify I meant restrictions that are not imposed by the goverment, but of companies and organisations and the like. Even so I think that truly self-imposed restrictions limits ones freedom but that they are there out of your own free choice, if it can be called free will if you have been raised think in a certain way or live in a community that only accepts certain things.
