I drink lots of coffee, but not with milk or sugar. I always use a powdered, non-dairy creamer, like Coffee Mate, or Creamora. It's much better, IMO.

Chandos. You have just summed up my single biggest gripe that sums up everything that is wrong (in my own personal opinion - don't move this to AoLS) with the USA: Non Dairy Creamer. That stuff is just wrong. I'll always remember the first time I saw that sludge - I couldn't believe that such a thing existed. It must be as far away from real food as it is possible for something to be. I wonder what the shelf-life of Non Dairy Creamer is. 1000 years?

    /end insane rant

Black coffee. Anything in it would ruin it for me, be it milk, sugar, cream or liquor. Just coffee for me.

Tea with a lilte sugar perhaps, depends on the flavour. No milk. Some lemon perhaps, or something else that's fruity.

Black coffee is horrible. Far too strong and over-powering. Get milk in it man, in the name of God! What else is milk for?! Get it in milk and coffee!!!

Forget sugar and all these other silly flavourings.

Savour tea and coffee how it meant to savoured. Straight and with milk!

Bah, you're supposed to put a shot of Scotch in your coffee, and Rum goes nicely with tea if i say so myself.

[IMG] Coffee: Preferably a nice, strong, real coffee stewed for 5 mins or so in a cafetiere. Black, no sugar. Maxwell House's mellow instant'll do in a pinch.

Tea: I like Typhoo's green/black tea blend with a dash of milk. Again, no sugar. Pure green tea,of course, is taken straight with nothing in it.

Coffee goes nicely with cake. I had a cup today with the pecan pie that my hall's catering staff serve and got an immense hardon, if you'll pardon the phrase. Tea is also good with cake, or plain chocolate hobnobs. None of that milk chocolate bollocks, at least not defiling my mighty hobnobs.

@pacman: Nah, I like to keep my alcohol and caffeine seperate to be honest. Seems somewhat counterproductive, otherwise. Plus, alcohol is best enjoyed in the form of beer and taken with either pizza or bbq/chilli flavoured doritos *dribbles involuntarily* Now thats some good gluttony. Follow it with coffee and pecan pie and you're in cholestorol-laden heaven.

@ Pac man - i think that randy goes better with tea, actually, as long as it is good stuff :)

Arabwel, that's the second time you've typo'd that word. Is there something you're trying to tell us, subconsciously?

One of those things with a plunger/filter that you make coffee with, ie not instant stuff. I think cafetiere is the right word, unless thats just the name for the coffee that you get out of one of those things ... hmmm ...

Never heard of it, but I guess I would call it a Plunger. Unless you mean something different from a Plunger..... For me a Plunger is the one where you slowly push down on the filter part and all the coffee grains end up squashed at the bottom of the beaker.

I prefer my espresso machine but that is going a bit off-topic from the original question.

Thats what I mean :) Whatever you call it, thats how I like my coffee.

Never tried espresso; I prefer a nice, big drink rather than a short, sharp nuke of caffeine. Might have to try it for one of my allnighters some time.

An espresso machine can make any size coffee you want. Espresso refers to the brewing method rather than the size of the drink. Espresso involves really hot water being pushed through the ground coffee under pressure. I use freshly ground (as in, a few seconds ago) beans for that extra special flavour. :coffee:

I am not sure if this is true, but apparent it was by an English man, who also invented iced tea. He tried to sell tea on USA in some hot state, but no one was interested so he used cold water and lemons instead, and was a success.

Got to agree on the chocolate hobnob front - the champion of biscuits. The English did'nt invent tea as far as I know hence the phrase "All the tea in China" - but we certainly perfected it.
I remember a little discussion me and some mates were having about tea. We came to the conclusion that you can never have a big enough cup so we decided to to experiment with a pint of tea. Two bags (prefer leaves myself but they weren't available) 4 sugars and about 1/5 of a pint of milk.
I enjoyed it but there was something that made me feel uneasy about seeing tea in a pint glass.

Plungers are also called French Presses - at least, they are here...

AFAIK, espresso has lots of flavor but not a lot of caffiene, when compared to coffee brewed by other methods. If memory serves me correctly, the amount of caffiene extracted from the grinds has a lot to do with how long they're in contact with the water.
