I've never smoked pot and have no interest in doing so. I made it through college without drinking beer, primarily because all most students could afford was swill that was better used as hair conditioning. I didn't start to like beer until I discovered microbrews, and imports.

To this day I'm not a big drinker. The one thing that gets me is wine - nothing compliments a good meal like the right wine!

 

I don't know if this is true or an old wives' tale, but be warned you young people that you *can* have a paranoid attack (aka the "heebie jeebies") from your first experiment with *any* drug, including marijuana.

50% of people have an unpleasant experience using the drug, and I'm pretty sure that number is climbing now that there is that ultra-strong Canadian hydroponic stuff on the market. So even if you think nothing will happen the first time, have a responsible friend with you if you're going to experiment.

Way too many people, according to these results, have drank beer if you ask me. And the same can be said about all the potheads...I am amazed!

 

God DAMN! What are you people? Nerds, or just 11? There is nothing wrong with drinking (unless you're a muslim)! I can't believe that so many people have said they don't drink. Ubelievable.

 

I smoked pot daily ( 3-4 joints a day) more than five years ago. I haven't touched the stuff in more than a year and I don't miss it. I think I simply outgrew it.

As for alcohol: a beer a day keeps the doctor away ( and my belly nice and round...)

 

I guarantee you that 100% of the people who use drugs had at least one bad trip. But after that is the crucial decision should i stay or should i go .
Anyway the way i see it alcohol is far more damaging than pot or whatever one calls it.

I have learned from some discussion with some doctors that pot isn't as bad as it is presented but because there is a small chance of addiction and because of the mind altering capabilities hashis (another word, from this came the word assasin, but this is another story)has. But alcohol has these effects too so why this distinction?
Simple alcohol is something it can be easily controlled in our days, it's not so easy to have a brewery in your appartment but to have a small cannaby tree is an easy task. And furthermore you can never make alcohol without all this equipment the pro breweries have, but you can have a very good quality of hashis even from the plant you have planted and taken care. But this would mean that big companies would have no sales meaning no profits . As you see the pot is indeed dangerous but not so much to your health as to their pockets

 

I'm not into smoking weed, but that is probably only decause I don't smoke anyway while alcoholic beverages do make perfect sense for me. Cheers. Hick. Cheers.

And to all "I never will drink alcohole" folks out there, IMO you miss something. But see for yourself.

I find it amusing that you feel the need to sit in judgement of people you've never met, are older than you, and obviously have more life experience than you. Drinking or smoking pot (or whatever) alone doesn't make you a bad person, or stupid or unwise. And the fact that you've chosen not to do those things, while a good idea, doesn't necessarily mean you've got it all figured out either. Excessive consumption is bad yes, but that goes for everything. Hell, water is bad for you if you drink too much.

For whatever reason, you seem to think that drinking beer is this evil, underworld activity. Beer is probably the most universal beverage in the world next to water. Nearly every culture in the world has its own variation of it. For hell's sake, there's barely any alcohol in beer! You have to drink several to even get a buzz (unless you weigh 50 pounds). Alcohol itself is even good for you in small, frequent doses and has been proven so.

Drinking beer does not make you a drunkard, and smoking a joint does not make you a pothead.

 

What's the norm then?

I'm about to agree with DeathRabbit. In fact, I could agree with what he wrote, but I'm not going to agree with something people could pull out of that. Alcohol is one thing, drugs are different. And don't tell me coffee, tea and half known medicines are drugs. There actually is some difference. People smoking weed don't smoke for the fun of weed but to try drugs on their own. And they stay or go. Some stick to weed and nothing more. Well, that's sometimes nothing more than just tougher cigarettes for them, and in many cultures many a herb is smoked like cigarettes in Europe or US were a few decades ago, but that is not general rule. Getting a fly in completely brainless state of mind is not the same as taking a shot or smoking a cigarette. If you can moderate it, fine. Most people cannot.

And one more thing: what's all that exciting about beer? It's barley juice. Even women rarely ever get drunk on it and a man would need some obscene amount that would make you bad even if it were water. Oh well, and to me it seems physically impossible to get drunk on the thing you drink in America. Now, if you were speaking of booze and pot... but simple beer?

Alcohol is a drug too.Just beacuse it is so accepted does make it any less of a drug.

Personaly I am a smoker.Good buzz no hangover,Not to say that there are not dangers.Lung cancer and short term memory loss being two of them.

Alcohol just does not appeal to me.I like to reamin in control and can honestly say in the fifteen or so years of smoking I have never felt like I did not know what I was doing.I cannot say the same for times when I have been drunk.

Like most things however this is a personal choice and people need to make up there own minds about what they will put into there bodies.

I drink at parties but i stop before i lost total control. In my case never having got totally slaughtered = never having got hungover. I've seen my mum vomitting too many times in the past

 

Let me raise an interesting question for you, Kovalis (and everyone else, I suppose).

Which is worse for you health and social skills: pushing a few chemicals into your stomach, lungs, brain, or otherwise every once in a week or so, or staring at a computer monitor talking with people you've never met face-to-face or pretending to be an elf several hours a day?

Funny story... me and my buddy were tokin' and he started mumbling somthing like "oh ****, this one's gonna be bad!" Next thing I know he's on the floor rolling over and over and over. I started laughing (cause even when you're not high someone rolling on the floor is funny) and he kept rolling. It was great. Then we went upstairs for chips and pizza pops.
