If by 'alternative' you guys mean indipendent or 'indi', I'm with you, otherwise another category missed off.

Since when was Linkin Park trying to be tough metal guys? Like, never! I wouldn't say Avril was trying to be a Punk Rocker, and i'd say she was a skateboarder, or at least into it.
What makes you the judge on what people want to be? For all you know she could be the biggest Slipknot fan in the world!

Ok; so you're saying Metal bands' lyrics are hard to write? I'm sure I could put together a decent metal song by shouting "F*ck F*ck Sh*t Sh*t" down a mike as loud as possible.

Hmmm.. you should stop stereotyping music by what image they put across, just because some groups sings one way doesn't mean they are all the same.

Then I, like a metal fan, could add Epic metal, Black metal, Death metal, Power metal. It's the same difference like D'n'B/House/Trance. For example, try to listen to Blind Guardian/Hammerfall/Children Of Bodom/Cryptopsy. They have all very little in common.

That's how they act (I do not know how she acts at home, but I've seen it in public).

Hmmmm...Limp Bizkit really have lyrics like that, but they aren't metal. Don't talk about metal lyrics if you don't know'em.

Iam Swedish to!

Listen to punk, punkrock, powermetal, and progg.
Favorite bands are: DLK, Charta77, Ebba Grön, Joakim Thåström, Björn Afzelius, EAK, Ubba, Nightwish, Sex Pistols, Gamma Ray, The kristet utséende, etc....Mostly Swedish music, but who cares.

I just wanted to start a topic 'bout our favorite lyrics. All English, less then 35 words.

 

YOU FORGOT MOVIE MUSIC!!!

Movie music is undeniably my favorite type, and possibly video/computer game music.

What would that go under?!?!

However, movie music most closely matches music from the Romantic and Impressionist periods, so I had to go with classical, although I hardly enjoy classical.

I voted "Rock" since you didn't have a classic rock choice. I listen to lots of stuff but by far my favorite is the Doors, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Floyd, CCR, Kansas.

My brother recently introduced me to a non-american english-speaking band (not sure what country) called Blind Garden. The album he showed me is basically thrash or death metal blended with classical scoring and the whole thing follows the story of The Lord of the Rings. Not only was the concept awe-inspiring, but the songs were good too!

 

I voted Metal but just becuase I felt like I liked it the most today.
I listen to rock/metal/punk aso..
and a bit blues sometimes since my father is all crazy about it.

You meant BLIND GUARDIAN (epic metal band). They are really good, if you like them, you should try Rhapsody, they are great, too.
