Past: there's too much that has gone wrong already, and I'd consider making myself non-existent to be a small price to pay. First stop, the Vietnam era - and I'd make sure Shrub got drafted. Whether he survived or not is irrelevant; he'd be a different and probably a better man for it. As Arabwel said, though, the key would be making sure that there would be a future.

@ Aikanaro: I agree, Australia's got a cruddy past - but wouldn't you like to change it, if you had a chance to?

Definitely back a few million years to prove once and for all whether there was a "garden of eden" with just two original people or whether humans are really descended from other species of primates. Find out what happened to the Neanderthals too. Then jump forward from there a bit to see how they built the Pyramids and Stonehenge.

@ Harbourboy, if you did stumble on to Eve, while Adam was trying to figure out how to kill a deer, would you:

A: Say "Hi!" and then take her picture. :p

B: Give her something bigger than a fig leaf :o

C: Change the entire future by impregnating her! :thumb:

Knowing me, I would do A, and then C, followed by B. :rolling:

I'd just go back about 6 months and beat my ex to the punch so to speak. While I had my son of course. Oh, and speaking of sons, I'd go back 6 years 10 months and NOT give my eldest son back to his mother.

I voted past, but that's only because I know all the cool stuff that happened then. If I knew the cool stuff that will happen in the future, Id probably rather go there.
But, going to the future is taking a risk, there might be nothing cool at all. Humanity may be destroyed by climate change. Going to the past is not quite as risky.
(assuming we've only got one chance to travel through time.)
