    Type/categories of books read

I'm pretty picky when it comes to my choice of reading material. I find that I read almost anything with type on it. I usually start at breakfast by reading the cereal boxes as the milk cartons are fairly short and non -controversial. I just finished the internet:cool:

I started rambling, so I'm going to try again.

I love reading. I prefer books with either a mysterious or supernatural element, so I tend to lean mostly towards mysteries and various kinds of fantasy and odd general fiction (So Cold the River, by Michael Koryta, is listed I think as general fiction, but it's definitely not straightforward). As far as non-fiction, I usually read it to learn something, so most of my non-fiction is how-to books. I've started a few biographies, but never really got into them, and I haven't tried True Crime, although I should, since it would help with writing mysteries. In fiction, I like pretty much everything except really depressing stuff, chick lit, and romance. Well, and I also don't like Hemingway. Or most 19th century realism (especially Balzac), unless it's taking a psychological approach like Dostoyevsky. I guess some of Dickens' stuff is okay.
