    Catholic Christian by baptism (although I wasn't consulted in the matter) and by first communion (again, too little to know better).

    I believe that there is something out there, but that being or beings do not give a damn about us. Otherwise it/they would clarify which is the right religion(s) to follow and many religious conflicts would be ended. As that is not the case, they do not deserve my worship.

    If I ever feel like praying, I worship Banjo.

    I agree. Especially considering in addition to listing "Christian" as a choice, there are four other choices that also qualify as Christian. Additionally, there are numerous Protestant denominations (with significant populations) that aren't listed on the poll at all, such as Anglican, Methodist, and Lutheran. Hindu isn't on the poll, and there's about a billion of them the world over, although I have no idea if there are any on the boards.

    Finally, I have to second joaquin when he says religion is as much a matter of ethnicity than anything. If you are from (or trace your ancestors to) France, Italy, or Ireland, there's a pretty good chance you're Catholic. If it's Greece or Russia, chances are you're Orthodox. If it's Germany or England, chances are you're Protestant.

    EDIT: One more thing. I think "Islamic" is the proper word when referring to the religion itself. However, if you are referring to a person who follows Islam (and obviously you are, as you are asking "What religion are YOU"), I believe the proper term is "Muslim". (You wouldn't say "I'm Islamic", you'd say "I'm a Muslim.")

    East-Germany maybe, but isn't West-Germany a pre-dominantly Catholic country ?

    Born reformed, grown free.

    Edit: Who has invented the adverb ? I want to kill him!

    I assumed all of Germany was Protestant because that's where the Protestant Reform Movement started. I've been wrong before though, so if anyone would like to enlighten me if they know for sure, feel free.

    Gee, I'm the only the third catholic? However it's more a ethnic choice than anything else. I was baptized and confirmed and all that crap.

    @Ofelix

    Well, don't forget that "Christian" was also a choice, and some Catholics may have checked that box.

    @all

    I did some research on Germany and found that while Proestants make up the majority of Germany's population, it is by the slimmest of margins. I was unable to find specific information on West Germany vs. East Germany, but I did find the data for Germany as a whole here

    As it turns out, the largest religious denomination is Protestant, with approximately 30 million members, and the second is Catholic, with about 28 million members. So I stand corrected with my original assertion.

    Islamic here...but just to be politically correct, the "Islamic" people call themselves, Muslims. So, it would be more accurate to refer to them as such.

    @Aldeth: yeah. Last time I was checking the record, there was only one vote for Catholic and both Hacken Slash and I had voted. Guess one of us went for Christian, though you may kill me if I know which one of us it was. Or maybe we both went for Christian and someone else chose Catholic. I don't know.

    No religion.

    I strongly disbelieve in it verging on seriously disliking it.

    Even today, religion has a hell of a lot to answer for.

    I sometimes struggle to believe people are still being fooled by this elaborate money spinner.

    Although, what a clever way to control people...

    I dunno. After reading His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman I've questioned organized religion. To me, religion should be just what you yourself believe, not what someone tells you to believe.

    "His Dark Materials"? Oh, c'mon. If you really want a reason to question organized religion, check out the "Left Behind" series.

    The bizarre thing is that both these series are intended to be serious...

    To clarify, I was baptised Catholic, went to church whenever I was visiting my grandparents, and have only gone a few times since.

    I tried to go, but I didn't really see the point. I sat in my pew, kneeled when I was told, stood and sang when I was told, and listened to sections being read from the bible.

    It all just didn't make sense to me.

    And BTW, I've read "His Dark Materials". Raised a few questions of my own. Thought it held together well though.

    I was born Anglican, but now I don't know I'd be considered, so I put Other (since Agnostic isn't appropriate - I know what I believe, for the moment, I just don't have a word for it). Most of the religions I can think of I can run with to some degree (some more than others), but none of them make complete sense to me.

    As such, I've come to formulate my beliefs based on my own experiences. The specifics are changing all the time, as I understand new things and gain new perspectives from different people.

    Yes. "Other" is still winning. When is someone going to build a Temple of Otherness?
