    Mechanics: Icewind Dale 2, since it's 3e.
Design: I took this to be graphics, which in hindsight it may not have been. I voted for Icewind Dale 2, based on the casting graphics.
Difficulty: Planescape: Torment, because it wasn't hard.
Best Overall: Planescape: Torment, due to it being a work of philosophy and storytelling, whereas the others are just games.

    @ Felinoid

Aw, did I hurt the feelings of our little feline member, or are you still bearing hard feelings because of what I said in "Gay?" -thread? Here is a constructive tip for you: stew it. No one likes of personal insults. ;)

Just curious, Wirhe; what part of ************ off didn't you understand?
:yot: Now, if you would like to continue this, Wirhe, I suggest you come to this other thread: My problem with Wirhe , and I will do my best to respond to whatever comments you care to make. This thread, however, is for my poll, and you've already made your opinion known. So unless you have anything else to add with respect to the merits of one game or another, I will have to kindly ask you to shut the **** up. Have I made myself clear?

Also, if the rest of you would like an explanation, you're more than welcome to examine the other thread yourselves.

I reckon BG2 is the best overall I suppose. Anyway, are you on the rag today felinoid? Quit the bitching.

[IMG] Felinoid & Wirhe; anything further in this thread from either of you that isn't on-topic is going to meet with my delete twitch. I've already said what I had to say in that thread in SS.

:o Can't believe I ruined my own thread.

But anyway, on topic, imho BG1 rules in EVERY category, especially storyline.

BG1 is a great game - but it doesn't beat PS:T for story - no game does. BG1 would probably be my second choice for everything.

Edit: Except maybe mechanics, where it's kind of primitive compared to BG2 - but since when did mechanics matter?

It's not ruined Felinoid, it's a great thread. It would be even better if I'd played IWD and PS:T, well I just started PS:T actually. ;)

I didn't vote in the mechanics and difficulty, for the reason mentioned above. I did voted for IWD2 on the design, from screenshots and stuff it looks great. I find it hard to belive any of the games are better than BG2 though, so it gets my vote for best game overall.

Your poll is fine Felinoid. Overall I still prefer BG II but I also love BG I. PS/T is a great game and a little different from the others.

So far as best story goes, PS:T is the clear winner for me. I'll also give it best design, mostly for the more detailed avatars and environments.

For gameplay mechanics, I'll say IWD 2 for 3 Ed rules. ToEE would also be an option there for the same reason, but I didn't play it enough to say for sure.

IWD wins best difficulty for me. Maybe it was lucky party choices, but the whole time I felt like it was poised at just the perfect difficulty level, especially with HoW and TotL.

Overall best though is still PS:T. I play BG 2 more, but PS:T is the one I'll remember. The story, the characters, the setting, the way it actually made me think, all of that wins it the prime place.

It's a real shame that there aren't more games built off the Icewind Dale II engine and rules.

Sold out, nothing. You are missing out on the best game of them all! :jawdrop: You have to get either BG1 or PS:T, or you'll never know the richness of story they both have. I would recommend BG1, but that's just my own preference. :heh:

Temple of Elemental Evil has better mechanics than those listed, no question. It's a damn near perfect recreation of 3.5e D&D on your PC.

PS:T has the best storyline, design, and difficulty of those listed; the combat never gets in the way of the story.

That said, Fallout 1 & 2 are still better than those listed, though PS:T is in the same ballpark.

Only 38 votes?! :jawdrop: Come on, everybody's got an opinion, and there are 8500+ people registered. I don't care if you only have one game, vote anyway! It can still serve as a measure of which game is more popular with SPers. You don't have to post in order to vote, either. Also, if you'd like me to start over, and include the other games listed on SP, as well as a storyline question, let me know, and I'll ask Tal or one of the other mods if I can. :)

    Summary so far:
BG1 is semi-popular, coming in third overall (5%, 13%, 18%, 8%), but not nearly as popular as BG2, which is leading in all categories (39%, 37%, 37%, 53%).
PS:T comes in second overall (26%) scoring high marks in design and difficulty (21%, 18%) but getting almost no votes (5%) for mechanics.
IWD2 scores very high in design and mechanics (24%, 37%) but gets hurt by its difficulty (5%), landing it only 2 votes for best overall (5%).
The IWD original's only claim to fame seems to be coming in fourth on difficulty level (11%), just ahead of its successor.

Made it up to 42 votes.

BG2 still has the lead in all categories (43%, 38%, 38%, 50%), but PS:T has overcome IWD2 for 2nd in the design category (24% for PS:T, 21% for IWD2) by getting two more votes while IWD2 got none.

Graphics in IWD are quite good, game mechanics in IWD2 are (IMO) the best... nevertheless I still prefer BG2 and BG1 (tutu) .

And I never played PS T

I chose PST and BGII. Best overall: BG2, but just by a fraction.
