    Don't worry, I realized that, maybe you could ask one if she's interested in polyandry. Wouldn't that be an interesting situation... I suppose it'd just kind of be like a group marriage/formalized swingers, but still interesting.

    In modern times, yes but back in olden times when women had a choice of only three professions it made sense. Romance had nothing to do with it. The man may have had some choice although marriages were usually arranged by the family or a marriage broker (not sure that is the correct term). The woman usually had no choice. The were and are rules governing who may have multiple wives and how many. The man had to be able to support the wives and children.

    In the few cases of multiple husbands that I have heard of it was an economic issue and as LKD mentioned it was usually brothers who married the same woman.
