I think this, too is a valid point. But then i got to thinking if you had rough sex coldn't the results be similar?
About the original question though, i would have to agree with Viking, it should be all or nothing. It's not fair to soil a person's name that might now even have done it, then not soil the name of the person making up the story.

 

I think that the best option is to revel neither name until the end. To reveal the man's name stains the point of innocent until proven guilty and even if he's aquitted people will still look at him in a strange way, revealing the victim's name puts her under danger and stops people from coming forward.

I'd also like to point out that in most cases a doctor will examine the victim for signs of rape.

 

The rape victim's name should not be publicized, period. You may not regard it as fair, but as someone else pointed out, rape is one of the most difficult crimes to prosecute. Why? Simply because, even today, rape is the only crime I know of where both the victim and the accused are put on trial. The victim carries the stigma for the rest of his/her life. I was once told by someone, that a lawyer prosecuting a certain rape case had told her that the jury would have acquited if the victim did not have a sqeaky clean reputation. The victim was a minor - the accused, a pedophile.
