Was back up in the Dells again this week, at a indoor waterpark/resort with Family and friends. Some weirdo started talking to my 3 yr old daughter when she was going up the steps of the water-slide. He was by himself. It is a family vacation resort and the pool area was for infants and small children. After watching him for about a second, I stormed over and told him to "get lost or get hurt". He wouldn't look me in the eye and just went down a different slide. Adults are not supposed to go down the kiddie slides. He got out of the pool and sat down on a pool chair, with this crazy look on his face, just staring straight ahead. The 2 other husbands and I immediately called security who promptly showed up and escorted the weirdo out of pool area. He didn't cause a scene. My wife went to the frontdesk immediately afterwards, the manager said the fellow was asked to leave as he did not have a room at the hotel... they should of called the cops.


Never, ever take your eyes off of your kids. It's easy to do when on vacation. I chalked that one up as a near miss...

 

Good to hear that diversity of cultures is still very much alive. I so rarely hear a Brit refer to themselves as English, Scottish, etc anymore, that it sort of makes me wonder.

 

Damn it. Totalled my truck this morning. Waiting for the insurance company to verify the damage was too much to repair, but I'm pretty sure I need a new vehicle.

No injuries -- two trucks totalled and no one was injured.

My thought exactly.

We were talking about something like that over lunch, namely broken ribs and heart massage (two colleagues are on a first aid course). What counts is to keep the hart pumping and the brain supplied with oxygen. In this, ribs may break, which is totally acceptable: You recover from that, but you don't recover from dead.

A car is just a(n expensive) thing that has fulfilled a secondary function apart from driving: Absorbing dangerous levels of energy while diverting it away from the passenger, at a cost, of course.

 

Thanks, seat belts are a great thing. The other driver had his air bags go off -- air bag and crumple zones are equally good. I basically got t-boned at the passenger side rear axle. So I'm in a rental for a few days (or weeks).

I've now written 'Thief' often enough that the spelling looks completely wrong.

I've also been told by my mentor that I need to stop doing so much coursework... I think after realising that apart from university visits I've left the flat once in 2011 to do something unrelated to my course.

The I before E rule has been removed from the list of...well...rules as there are more exceptions than actual words

Yeah, it's annoying. English is a very inconsistent language, perhaps one of the most inconsistent languages around. You have to learn a bunch of rules to understand it, like every other language, but once you learn those rules, then you learn that they only actually apply whenever in the hell they feel like it. Why are we so incapable of creating a rule and, you know, actually sticking with it?

 

But we Americans invented English, so that's why everyone should speak it!

 

Sometimes I just give up

Kev is angry with me because I don't do enough housework and he's expecting the flat to be perfect when he gets home and I just hurt too much to even care right now.

I just give up.

 

Does he really expect the flat to be "perfect", 8? Or is that the hurt talking? I don't say that to be a dick, but from everything you've posted about Kev in the past, he knows about your condition and is quite understanding about the consequences that come with it. has he done a face heel turn on you, or are you just frustrated out of your mind from the hassles that come with your condition?

I feel for you and what you put up with, I really do. I wonder how much research is put into either curing or at least ameliorating your condition. Whenever I hear about taxpayer money being wasted or mismanaged, I think about you and other people suffering from chronic conditions and how that moneyu could be much better spent finding help for you. Stay strong -- and hire a housekeeper!
