I know the feeling. One of my friends does that with everything and there's only so many times you can say 'I don't care'

Sadly I must refrain from making a pun about that lest I earn the shaky finger again from dmc :p.

I need new glasses ! the difference between having them or not is marginal at best. But I was also thinking about getting contact lens, I dunno I've very little dexterity when it comes to handling small object so I just know I'd hurt my eyes with 'em or loose 'em. I've had glasses since I was 13 anyway, I'm used to it. Anyway not of this matters now, I still need a job to pay for it.

Any thoughts on the matter of contact lens ?

Unless you're accustomed to poking fingers into your eyes, you wouldn't do it with contacts either. Well, not more than a few times initially, anyway... :D And you can't really lose them, them falling out and getting left on the scene of the crime is a TV gimmick which simply doesn't happen in real life. Regular contacts are very soft, thin and silicon-like, so once you put them in, they're not going anywhere. I've been using them for more than 10 years and I can't remember a single instance of losing a contact no matter what I was doing, sports and swimming included. Although technically, you're not even supposed to use them with such activities. Far more often, it's a problem getting them out, because if you use them say all day and your eyes dry out a few hours prior to taking them out, they can stick to the iris and it takes quite some effort to pull them out.

It's not as horrible as it sounds though, it's just mildly irritating and unpleasant, though it can be pretty scary the first time you have to do it.

Personally, I alternate between glasses and contacts. Contacts are still harder to wear all day for most people than glasses. Oh and if you do get them, forget about anything other than the Acuvue brand. They're the best by far.

Bah! ;) My eye doctor's got me on some uber Bausch and Lomb lenses that you wear for two weeks at a time. They never bother me in the slightest. (He did tell me once though that some people are just better suited to wearing contacts than others, which is why you hear a wide variety of reports.)

Sticking your fingers in your eyes and everything that goes with that is a non-issue for contact lense veterans.

Just found out that an old friend of mine got beaten up last night by a taxi driver. He's openly gay so this guy thought he was within his rights to beat the crap out of him. People like that deserve to be publicly castrated!

Urgh, the worst part is some people probably would agree with the the taxi driver. I'm no lawyer but I assume your friend is well within his right to charge the guy with battery or assault or some criminal offense like that ? That's what I'd do anyway.

I hated my contacts. They never really felt comfortable and it wasn't until I started wearing contacts that I noticed how often I take my glasses off on a day. I did find it interesting to notice how fast you loose your blink-reflex :)

    And besides, glasses are awesome.

I don't think I could ever get comfortable about poking around in my eyes. I also need different strengths for distance, screen work, and reading and I don't think they have invented multi-strength contacts yet. So it's glasses for me.

Meh I think I'll stick with glasses after all, I don't really like the idea of "poking around my eyes". I wonder if they've made adaptive contact yet, y'know like those glasses that changes depending on the light intensity ? They turn into sunglasses outside and switch back to regular glasses inside or when it's dark ? Although it'd be kinda weird to see someone's eye "change colour", meh.

Due to the nature of my work and fieldhockey, I am forced to use Titanflex spectacle frames.

You know, 300+ euro's per frame. Including two glasses that sum up 500 per set. And yes, I have ordered a set two days ago.

The Titanflex frames are made of memory titanium, bending back after blows to the frame. you can twist them or drop them without damage to the frame. Frames usually last two sets of glasses or in my case 10 years.

I can function good without them, but I have a cylindrical problem. I am good until I get in a car, or on a forklift truck. Then I really need to see what I am doing hencefort the above mentioned pair.

Still, we are lucky. Suppose we were from outer space with a dozen eyes or more....

€ 300 per frame? I just paid that for a triple layer hardshell jacket. It is very green :xx: I estimate it should last through two to three hours intensive train although I wonder what a difference a backpack makes.
