    Thou shalt spell the word 'phoenix' P-H-E-O-N-I-X not P-H-O-E-N-I-X, regardless of what the Oxford English Dictionary tells you.

    Well the mythological Greek creature was originally spelled Φοίνιξ - transliterated as Phoinix - so I guess the iota somehow became en e when it was taken by the ancient romans.

    Also if you want to use the similar ancient hebrew myth " פניקס " - transliterated as PNYQS - I guess it could be voiced as "pin-yi-qas" or "pi-nyi-qas"* or something like that.

    The ancient persian knew this myth as " : سیمرغ‎ " - simurgh -

    Take whichever strikes your fancy :p I'll stick with Phoenix thank you very much.

    * I don't actually speak ancient hebrew, but I know I thing or two about the language.

    It's from Scroobius Pip :) He's a British rapper/poet/spoken-word-artist. That line about how to spell 'phoenix' is from one of his songs. Another line goes: "Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry".

    Mesmero, these guys are awesome. :) I like both Pip's lyrics and Dan le Sac's music. Spoke to them in the same bar in Rotterdam. And a year later again, in the same bar. They are fun.
